Hey Guys,

Thinking of doing the upgrade to 15 (currently on 12 r2r's version I think).

Just wanted to know peoples thoughts on the two.

Has anyone installed and tried both??

Does one perform any better than the other?? Or has anyone had issues with either release on PC??

Was hoping or some insight as to which one to install.

I would use the VR release of 15, because the last available Waves version from R2R on sister site is from 2021. This one from VR Waves Ultimate 15 v25 02 12 Incl VR Patch WIN does not have a single user problem or complaint in its thread on other site. That is not a common thing. People always screw up installing Waves.

what about on offline pc, i thought vr needs to go online to install?

 

Don't know whether you've seen it or not but the latest R2R Waves release was in December 2024.
Waves.Ultimate.v2024.12.18.Incl.Emulator-R2R

 

Oh, I see. I looked for Waves Ultimate 15, and so that format title didn't show up. R2R are just not putting 15 in their release titles.

The VR version is from 25.0.12, so a little newer, and probably not enough to make any big difference. Back to a coin flip then.

 

R2R is better, as with everything, as they tend to have cleaner and less intrusive patching methods. However, R2R don't update their Waves releases every time there is a new plugin like VR. VR one seemed to work OK for me, but I personally prefer R2R.

If you want cleaner and reliable go R2R, if want all the latest plugins go VR. However, you need to make a decision now as uninstalling VR to then install later R2R version can be a pain in the ass!

There are leftover files from the previous installation somewhere, go through the list below carefully, delete those files and then restart your PC and then install the new version. If you don't find a wave file, it has already been deleted.

Scan your hard drive with the term: WaveShell and delete them.
Go to the Registry --> Run --> Regedit and delete the following folder: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Waves
