if i remember correctly ... you had to save the authorization file on USB stick, then you have to move it to proper folder.
Path should be in the .nfo

The info is not compete in nfo if what your saying is true.. so save to USB and move to the folder in waves folder on system? I created the same file path like it says for the USB? But still not working :(

Ps are you using the free version of the Firewall?

Yes - using the free version of Zone Alarm (without the AV)
    correct path (not sure) : c/users/all users/Waves Audio/Licenses [probably correct if there is 2 files ( *.txt + *.wle ) ]
Or may be just drag & drop license file onto the 1st waves plugin you open or locate it ( will be copied by the plug-ins)
sorry i dont remember more than that, its been a while

from .nfo (from older version, should be similar with most recent)
did you skip step 2 ( or didnt you notice what i marked in red ? )
    ------------
    1.Install
    2.Run the command file.
    %PROGRAMDATA%\Waves Audio\Show_Me_Devices.cmd
Your device information will be shown.

    You can see:
    [1]Device ID and Type
[2]Where to copy the license file to activate that device
    3.Use Keygen
    ------------

By default C:\ProgramData is a hidden folder. If you don't see the ProgramData folder in the root of your C drive.. go into your C drive folder, click the "Organize" tab at the upper left of the folder, click "Folder and search options", click "View", and in the advanced settings window select the option to "Show hidden files, folders, and drives", then click "Apply". Now you'll be able to browse to C:\ProgramData\Waves Audio. Clicking the "Show_Me_Devices.cmd" will give you the Device ID to enter in the Keygen. And you'll save the license file you generate in C:\ProgramData\Waves Audio\Licenses.

Your Network Card has to be enabled when you run the Show_Me_Devices.cmd
Here's the text from the WLS Device Commander v1.0 by TEAM R2R (which is the Show_Me_Devices.cmd) in blue
    I've XXX'd out my devices

"ID" "Type" "Name" "Letter" "License Directory"

    Devices:
    XXXXXXXXXXXX comp "Local Disk ( C: )" "C:\" "C:\ProgramData\Waves Audio\Licenses"
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX key "External" "E:\" "E:\Waves\Licenses"
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX key "SanDisk" "U:\" "U:\Waves\Licenses"

If you can't see any devices above, you can't activate Waves.
Enable your network cards or insert removable disks.
Press any key to continue . . .

If you're keeping the license on the local drive make sure the keygen type is set to 'comp' and place the license in:
    "C:\ProgramData\Waves Audio\Licenses"

If you're keeping the license on any other drive change the keygen type to 'key' and create a directory and place the license in :
"X:\Waves\Licenses" (replace X with your drive letter)

You can disconnect from the internet but keep the network card enabled.

What's with having your network card enabled? Having the card enabled doesn't mean you're "connected" to the internet. The way to disconnect from the internet is done simply from the network connection icon that should be on the taskbar. If it's not there.. you go to Control Panel\Network and Sharing Center.. and click "Connect or Disconnect".

WIth Ethernet use your firewall or the ipconfig renew/release mentioned earlier in this thread or just pull the cable out.

I just checked Waves site about USB license activations and apparently you have to either format the USB drive as FAT32 or at least create a FAT32 partition to store the license.

In the manual, it says: Run our setup and install

But for me, it doesn't work unless I install waves central, the cmd thing, is that alright?

Can I remove it after everything is done? Waves Central?

I still also have an older license file from a former setup, couldn't I simply copy and paste this into the folder just as well?

I tend to be offline most of the time. One solution, instead of plugging n/c in and out would be to install a second n/c that is not bound to a "standard gateway" to the outside world. This way you have access to your LAN ( LAN PCs, NAS etc.) without being online.

If one can't install a second card, becaus slots are full or pocket empty, you can try to use a virtual n/c. This worked for me with the freeware "Virtual box" (a virtualisation software) I had installed. You can install a virtual network card that is recognized by most software as a physical card. So you can bind the software to this card and plugout the netwok cable if you will. (As a sideeffect it was possible to transfer activated software to another computer spoofing the MAC address of the virtual card with a registry entry).

From my post above about launching Pinkman's .bat file on startup, I found the info (below) on the web, and can report it does indeed launch on boot.
For some reason or another, my startup folder wouldn't open when right clicked on my music dual boot partition (but does on the non music), I had to open properties/location and click find target to paste. But it works, and that's the main thing. It now shows the shortcut link to the .bat in the start up menu under all programs/startup

Run a batch file at boot in Windows 98, XP, NT, 2000, Vista, and 7

Create a shortcut to the batch file.
Once the shortcut has been created, right-click the file and select Cut.
Click Start, then Programs or All Programs. Find the Startup folder and right-click that folder, then select Open.
Once the Startup folder has been opened, click Edit in the menu bar, then Paste to paste the shortcut into the startup folder. If you do not see the menu bar, press the Alt key to make the menu bar visible.

Any shortcuts in the Startup folder will automatically run each time the user logs in to Windows.

Alternatively - and much more flexible, (e.g. start with a delay in seconds or minutes, at boot time or user login) ... - you can start it with the task scheduler.

Sure, you can go through the process of setting up a task in scheduler, but if like me you just want to auto load the .bat on start up, then it doesn't get much easier than to copy/paste a short cut.
But whatever way you go is fine, just as long as it works.

Yeap. Figured that out. So instead of turning off your network cards, get a simple software like InternetOff, works wonder.

I uninstalled the R2R version and updated with the latest VR release. All you problems are solved here. Took hours to install though with waves central...... The R2R version took minutes to install
