Yeah well in his video series about creating depth he uses four reverbs and four delays if I recall correctly. So there will probably be a an advanced or "pro" version, although that would be an unusual path for waves.

It's funny how they are trying to nudge people over to V12 by dropping free plugins just so they have to invest in WUP at some point.

Ha, ha, very funny, this (as an insert) is not the way CLA uses his reverbs. On his console he uses four revs for the complete mix, not only for one instrument. This is more like using Overloud's REmatrix (apart from the delays, ofc).

 

I thought waves were growing out of these cheap artist name plugins, oh well.

Indeed. You basically would have to insert it on a send return to have the authentic workflow. But Instead of sending individually from 8 auxes to the individual delays and verbs you now are limited to just one send which triggers all the things at once. So using it as intended is impossible unless you insert it 8 times and solo each effect which makes no sense at all in terms of keeping CPU hit low and efficient.

But hey, these are waves customers we are talking about here and not smart people. :D

When you have 1. Been at the top of the game for as long as he has, 2. mixed as many hits as he has, 3. been in demand from as many top artists as he is, 4. has as much respect from his fellow industry pros as he has, 5. when you even have a fraction of the success and knowledge he has, 6. When you have worked as hard and put in as many hours as he has........ I could go on but you get the picture...

Then and only then can you give an ill-informed opinion on such a person.

Until you achieve all that he has done and more, you will remain a wannabie amature hanging around online forums making what you think are pithy comments just to make your self feel any kind of self worth and look good in the eyes of other forum users.

 

Having seen a thousand and one mixing vids thanks to sister site, heh, have come to the conclusion that, given the same project, each of these peoples mixes will sound and be achieved different. IOW, there's a million ways to make a mix sound good and there's a million ways to make one sound bad.

There were some mixes I was appalled by in some tut vids by 'name' people. Not that I necessarily know what I'm doing...not by a long shot.... but just as a person who listens to music their entire long life. One guy in particular threw a ton of effects on everything. Sounded like a huge sonic catastrophe to me, but the band/client goes, "yeah, sounds cool".
I mean, what they gonna say.... this name guy's here doing our relatively obscure indie bands album for this video... who are we to say it sucks, lol.

As many of you probably figured out if you've been alive for a while, that for every famous musician or whatever profession, there's tens of thousands living in obscurity who are as talented.

What makes the difference? Drive and passion for one of course. But luck, who you know, showing up on time, delivering satisfactory goods on time, becoming the 'known' person...the 'go to guy'.. achieving some name brand recognition in your field...a reputation... that generates more business is a really big part.

Like my bro said to me when I was into the commercial photography business.... there's thousands others that can basically do the same thing. But they don't go into business, show up, and produce. That's 90% of it.

And this is mixing sounds after all, not brain surgery. As long as these guys mix in one of the million variations that'll sound good and not some nails on chalkboard mix, they're in good standing.

On topic.... won't get. Got sucked into waves universe when I first got the plugin buying bug and was dazzled by all their heavy discounting. Its just a ruse, lol

That isn't even in theory a valid point, because if it were true, you wouldn't have the right to criticize anyone with pro skills, be it musician, athlete, coder or politician, right?

 

...and people of great skill can choose to show humility in their abilities... or not.

 

No valid points here, but nice try. Honestly, I'm quite happy with what I'm doing and try to give back as much as I can unselfishly, I'm surrounded by people on a similar level as this man.... and they are very nice and humble.

You can have the utmost respect and appreciation for a man's craft and still criticise his ego. It's not mutually exclusive ;)

 

I'm trying this freebie out right now and I kind of like it but I'm not especially impressed by it.

If you ask me, for adding space to a track NI's Raum or ValhallaDSP's verbs have way more bang for your buck.

But I'll keep it as it's quite nice and might come in handy sometimes. (No, I don't hoard FX, do I...?)

And to clarify Raum was also given away for free, and ValhallaDSP's Supermassive it's still free now (get it), so I'd think it's an apples-to-apples comparison.
