Today we have two releases: A free trial version for WaveLab 8.5 professional mastering suite and the final 8.0.4 maintenance update for the previous version, WaveLab 8.

The WaveLab 8.0.4 update fixes some issues in areas such as plug-ins and markers. For detailed information please view the corresponding version history on the download page.



The WaveLab 8.5 trial version may be used for a period of 30 days and comes with the same functionality that the full version has to offer, including Watch Folders, Encoder Checker and Multi-Format rendering.

I've kept my eye on WaveLab ever since they ported it over to OS X. And ever since Peak went all wonky after v5 (and Bias went out of business?), I've been looking for a decent two-track editor. So far, the closest I've come is AudioFile Engineering's Wave Editor, which is pretty excellent (except for not being able to turn off Layers when you're just working with one track), but AE changed the name to "Triumph" and made it unable to install on anything earlier than Lion. Not a problem right now, since I'm on Snow Leopard and Wave Editor works just fine, but I'm always looking for something closer to Peak, still my favorite.

You can always download and install the WaveLab Elements 8 Trial. And see how it goes, perhaps you like it. It is soft-eLicenser so you don't need the physical USB and it is quite affordable.
