Hey guys, sup?

I really haven't got any experience with synths so I gently welcome any hints from you in order to get this sound.

The sound I'm trying to achieve is from an acoustic version of the song Waiting for Superman by Daughtry.

Could you suggest any soft and/or setup to make something similar?

Is made up of different sections ie Sample based acoustic piano, synth section capable of a number of types of synthesis ie FM, Wavetable, analog synthesis & B3 organ modeling section & effects. So look along those lines.

TBH you will never get that exact patch sound but can come very close with a combination of things

Not a lot of synth going on really just probably one of the factory piano patches with as u say a warm pad sound quietly layered behind it.

Apart from that not a lot going on. You could achieve something similar in a variety of ways.

Pad synth(s) layered with piano library. Reverb. EQ to taste.
Done.

Pads can even be freeware like Majken Chimera, Oatmeal, Synth1 or any HG Fortune synth, etc.

If you could spend some money, instead go for a good commercial multi-sampled piano library (for NI Kontakt or similar).

Edit: You don't have to play/use the same MIDI for the pads and piano. They can be different in modulation, voicing, transposition, offset/timing, etc.

The pad could be pretty much any soft pad (mostly anything resembling the GM Halo or Warm Pad).
