I am upset I want the Zener Bender TG12345 and TG limiter for $200 they want $400. It way too much. Plugin alliance have reduced new plugins worth $349 to $49 or $99. Who else thinks Softube Chandler are greedy?

I know. Rhetorical q to op.
I meant, just go with those. The original clone of the equipment.
    Why pay more?

Softube is a brand that wants to be associated with quality.
Their very excessive pricing policy does not make them affordable for everyone.
It makes them even more pro, and it's their choice.

Softube has to sell far fewer plugins than Plugin Alliance.
However, Alliance plugin enjoys a very good image.

I think other big brands should take their lead and rework their marketing strategies.
The best example of evolution is Waves.

Lots of high profile mixers mixing in the box using waves, Softube and Weves. With Kush, Elysia and Bettermaker outboards.

I love the few Softube plugs I've got, but what? Price makes a 'pro' plugin?
@Always Grateful What I was implying is that the Waves versions, who first got in with EMI/Abbey Road, and were the first company for plugins that most of us used in the recording business, are fine. And they're silly cheap.

For me no, the price does not make the quality but for a large majority of people yes, unfortunately!
I agree with you, there are some very cheap plugins that are as good as softubes.

I'm not that much into the EMI TG12345 Channel Strip, but I find the Abbey Road TG Mastering Chain pretty useful, it can even almost completely replace the PuigTec EQP-1A and the stereo, l/r and m/s options are really great.

If you ask me, it's all related to the K'ed plugins scene, Plugin alliance used to ask way too mush for their plugins, when their plugin's security got defeated, they immediately changed their strategy, and begin to ask a more reasonable prices, so as waves, and same applies to Softube, it has been a while since their plugins got cracked, and that's the reason why.

Yes, a lot of big producers amd mixing engineers are using or have used a lot (various kinds) of stuff, the question is to what amount and did it make THE difference?

It does make the difference Curve Bender and TG Limiter.
Tom Elmhurst trained by Trevor Horn, has been voted and won by Audio Engineers community 16 times a Grammy and Brauer 6 times. Both from Electric Lady. Brauer left EL this year.
Click on each to play video. Please enjoy.
