Hello. I want to either recreate or sample the hihat/ride in the attached clip. I think it's from an old house track, even if it's not that exact pattern. If you can name it, I'll grab a sample. If not, how would I go about recreating it? Sounds like someone sharpening knives (lol, I checked Playing With Knives, not it).

The origin of the clip I've attached is from a sample library which I've forgotten, except that the library had no drums.

    Thanks!

Sounds somewhat like a bitcrushed 909 open hihat.
Also, check out Hy2rogen "the huge hihat library" pack.

REALLY? Come on now, man! This is a really basic pattern… just learn how to program something like this using a drum computer plugin with a running light (808 or similar). D16 Group has some really good ones (like Drumazon for example).

I asked for the unique hi-hat/ride sound, not the pattern. The irritating thing about your reply is that it's not just off-putting, it's also counter-productive. Before I even posted this topic, I had already programmed the pattern using the 909 open-hat in ADM - but the output by itself is just not close enough. An 808 is way off in another direction.

If you're going to talk down to someone, leading off with an all-caps 'REALLY?', you need to be knowledgeable enough to actually talk down to them. Really.

Not all sounds can be reproduced……
I imagine that you want the exact sound of that hi-hat. *yes*
That's why I recommend to extract/isolate the sound from its original file.
It can be done with some amount of work using iZotope RX.
Best of if you have it in a better format as wav or aiff file.

    Wishing you luck

Yes, you're correct. I'm hoping for the exact sound.

Unfortunately, I don't have an uncompressed version of the clip I looped my attached file from. The MP3 is a mere 128kb/s.

But on to better news: I used iZotope RX 3 as you recommended, the Deconstruct function in it, and extracted noise. That gave me about a 85-90% clean hi-hat sample. I'm rather impressed.

    Thanks Cook!

Great that this solution worked for you.
When you insert an EQ before iZotope RX you can obtain even better results!
Use one that allows you to filter the wanted/unwanted frequencies, then polish up
the sound file with iZotope RX. Most people won't be able to recognize the bit-rate
    of an electronic hi-hat anyway.
