That is so very sad! Many years ago, when I was a teenager, I bought his album "11 Tracks of Whack" in a bargain bin off sale. I didn't even know what a "Steely Dan" was. So many years later, I am a huge fan of the body of work he and Donald Fagen produced. Humanity has lost one of its master craftsmen today.... Rest in Peace

When it comes to "high fidelity" recording, Steely Dan was always state of the art. "Any Major Dude Will Tell You" that Walter, Don Fagen, Roger Nichols (engineered all those great albums), and Gary Katz (producer) were always on the cutting edge of studio tech. Aja is one of the best sounding pieces of vinyl ever recorded.

THE crispiest drum sounds I ever heard! And the most awesome soundstage ever. Their albums sound like no other.

Wow, when I just read this post my heart skipped a beat. I feel such great sadness at this life's passing as he infused such immense joy into mine. To describe the body of his work as incredible would be an understatement. RIP.
