    Hey Reaper users!

I have updated the JSFX VU Meter (ZenoMOD) to v1.7.7.

VU Meter (ZenoMOD) is available via ReaPack - (automatic updates, possibility to rollback to older versions).
Alternatively, it can be downloaded from the Reaper Stash.

    Features in v1.7.7:
    • Fully resizeable vector GUI
    • 11 different UI styles
    • 2 extra User Theme slots
    • 3 channel modes: Stereo, Summed, Mid/Side
    • VU hold needle/arc (current)
    • VU hold display (current)
    • Peak hold display (current/max)
    • +-18dB volume slider for gain staging or automation
    • Preference menu with extensive setting options
    • Embedded UI - always shows SUMMED (L+R) or SUMMED (L||R)
    • Context-sensitive Tooltips
    • Write meter output automation
    • Low on CPU

Read the full changelog and more in the Reaper Forum Thread.

i'm more into VU that reacts in a realistic way, like some high end plugins that reflects how the plugin is actually reacting to the signal being fed to it, the ones that moves too fast and reacts instantly aren't my thing

    Umm...
It's a VU meter that behaves like...umm... a VU meter? VU meters do not react instantly, but have a certain response time.
What do you mean by high end plugins? In its default setting it behaves absolutely the same as Klanghelm VUMT, mvMeter2 or Waves.

Of course, the behavior can also be adapted to that of some HiFi VUs, which, however, do not map standardized values.

So if a wonky HiFi VU Meter is preferred, it can be emulated by setting the following values:
    Response: 75.0
    Damping: 0.0024

Wasn't my point, what i wanted to say was is, i'm not a fan of "rapidly moving VUs" like these digital ones, usually a high end compressor for example (can be both free and paid ones) can be smooth and a bit slow-ish giving me enough time to read what's going on, the one you're demonstrating is a big fast...

    does it make sense?

The meter already has potis for response and damping, so you can either emulate a wonky needle as described above or you can make the needle smoother overall by increasing the damping and response. But I think you mean a damping poti extra for the release of the needle.
Sorry but, no, I don't do that kind of nonsense. Maybe I will implement a max hold function. Let's see.

I am working on a complete graphic overhaul (a few UI styles on my list are still missing) :

Pink black & blue one is really ace looking. Looking forward to trying this embedded in the TCP.
Not sure I understand the earlier reply, I mean obviously if you're mastering you would use different metering tools but for eyeballing input levels a good ballistic VU is really useful.

Intelligent hiding of GUI elements when scaling: check!
Scaling for embedded UI mode: check!
Embedded meters show mono sum (regardless of plugin setting): check!

Back to designing styles. Will be an interesting update. But still needs a little while.

VU Meter (ZenoMOD) v1.6.0 is out. -> Reaper Thread
    Code:
    New in v1.6.0:
        * UI Style overhaul for all styles except "Classic"
        * Add new bottom bar with UI Slider Mask button
        * Add version number to bottom bar
        * Proper embedded UI scaling
        * Embedded UI always shows mono sum (regardless of mode setting)
        * Some more code clean up
In the embedded UI mode (MCP) the display of the scale notches is limited to -20dB, -10dB, -5dB, -2dB, 0dB and +2dB. This makes the whole thing visually clearer.

Love it, but the display seems to default to "Plug-in UI Open", as you can see in the screenshot. Same in the mixer panel. The UI is not open. Only if I duplicate the track does it then display normally (but only on the new track), or if I "save all FX as default chain for new tracks" as Kenny shows in the video. But then if I subsequently open the FX window for any reason I get the same problem, and the overlay/message never goes away. Can anyone help? :dunno: (Windows 10, latest Reaper)

edit: Ok figured it out (this is my first experience with embedded UI). I have "auto-dock new FX chain windows" selected in Preferences, so even though the docker is closed the UI is still considered "open". Is there any way around this?
