I want to start working with a Virtual Drum Sampler with swing .

I know theres a bunch out there and i went through a lot of tutorial and presentation of products of these VSTI :

    - Geist
    - Maschine
    - Nerve

Now , the main feature im into is the famous swing .

I'm working with S1 v3 and the workflow and specialy the swing just not working .....it doesnt bring me there.

Specialy for the snare part that just wont move randomly......like if the swing pattern were fixed and not randomly placed like the MPC .

If someone understand my pain and can get me in the right direction, i would really appreciate !

Example : This a 2 bar perfect dilla loop zoomed at 1/2 bar

Quantization is an absolute NO NO for Dilla. But that type of playing is referred to - at least in the gospel & neo soul community - as "sluggin'". Sluggin is where you take some elements of the rhythm and you either push or pull them relating to the beat.... But if you do quantize, which wont sound anything like Dilla Madlib ect ect, you need to find a sequencer that is 96ppq.... Cheers!!!

I used Geist before I bought a maschine studio...both excellent programs. Can't speak for nerve as I've never used it. But the other two do the swing thing perfectly. If you plan to pick up the hardware in the future, I'd suggest learn maschine. If you have no intentions to, geist will serve you just fine. Great sampler. Won't see much difference with the MPC other than the hardware aspect.
