AFAIK VSTHost/SAVIHost is the most complete and stable. When I say complete I'm talking of the basics of the plugin(s) hosting like advanced Sysex commands and things like that. I remember the first host able to run the great DSP emulator very well known here was VSTHost. Not even Reaper could at that early stage.
Problem is the GUI dates back decades ago.

Element is really good and light, with more features, although I haven't tested under heavy load. So I don't know about the stability. And it's still like version v0.49 or so. But I really want to try it, looks amazing.

I'm a musician first and foremost, so when I first demoed Gig Performer, I *tried to crash it, because if it wasn't stable, what's the point of a live host? :dunno: Seriously, I've never had Gig Performer crash in the years I've been using it. I *have had it lock up on me before and I had to end the process from the task manager, but that was due to—as @David Jameson pointed out—a faulty plugin (a VSTi,) which hadn't installed correctly. Also, I've had people report the same thing and after trying to troubleshoot it for them (online, via forum,) two of them got back to me with a similar (and equally vague but unsurprising,) response of "Nevermind. I fixed it. It was Win10." Yet another bullet point against that rotten OS.

As much as I have my very strong opinions about most every DAW, I'm just going to throw in that you should take your time and try a shit-ton of different ones, get to know each of them, how their workflow feels, what they offer that's unique, and what each excels and fails at, until you have a solid feel for all of them. I spent *months (... actually, nearly a year, before fully committing,) learning and stress-testing numerous DAWs some years ago (... 2015-ish?) and finally found my mainstay for creating/recording and mixing/mastering, plus two others that I keep around for testing plugins and various other things. DAWs are deeply personal (especially if you're like me and spend an unholy amount of time with it,) so no matter how well you describe your workflow to people, and try and describe what type of music you make, no one is going to be able to know what will actually click for you, except you. Happy hunting.

Typical. Make *me do all the heavy lifting while you sit back and see if *my PC catches fire while giving it a proper run-thru. :snuffy:

There are a ton of VST host apps that just load the vst in a terse UI. I would like to find one of these that loads AAX's in the same fashion so it's not required to fire up protools every time I need to check an AAX to see if it works.
