Hi, I am new to Music Production.
I often use strummed acoustic by native instruments for programing acoustic guitars. I use the auto mode to trigger chords by my midi keyboard by striking a single note of the chord I want to play. You know what I mean!
Just wanted to know is there any VST for non keyboard players for playing stuff like pads and strings?

Oh there are lots of them. :) I can recommend Sundog Scale Studio for example. It's inexpensive and great for this purpose.

Chordz, Cthulhu, Improvisator. All of them need some programming, especially Cthulhu. You also need to send them to some vst synth in order to get a decent sound.
I never use them myself, so I would suggest a different approach -it's much more fun:
    1. Learn to play chords with your midi keyboard. I don't mean to learn piano, just a few chords you need, and perhaps scales. It's very easy. I'm a guitarist, but I learned to do that in a few days.
    2. If you play the guitar, you can play chords using Jam Origin Midi Guitar. It's very good. Version 1 has been cracked by R2R and we are waiting for version 2.

There's also two 7alien plugins for chords/armonies/arpeggios. Don't remember what is the one for chords.

Where did you find the expansions? I only see one in AZ, the Snow one.

I have a related question. Do you know any plugin that does the opposite? I explain myself.

What I want is a MIDI to MIDI plugin that recognizes chords (for instance three simultaneous notes that form a chord) and can map it to another MIDI output. It would be very useful for some guitar VSTis I use that have sampled chords.

I know there are MIDI utilities you can program, but something that has at least a chord list is what'd be cool.

BTW, there are also chord and arpeggio plugins from Sugar Bytes (Thesys and Consequence).

Seems cool. Thanks. To all of you in general, you guys rock.

You can import chords from midi files into Cthulhu which really works nice.
