I tried Syntesizer V: not so bad (just 1 male voice in english, remaining library is female). Still think that Vocaloid is the most complete app & with a huge library of different voices in various languages. Emvoice is interesting: quite realistic, but wit a limited voice library. The big downside of Emvoice is that it works online only, so it has an annoying latency when adding or modifying notes. Cheepspech and Alter Ego are a lot of fun for creating singing robotic voices

AI lead singer syndrome, they'll want to control everything, own everything - kill everything. Many would-be superstar singers are languishing in Karaoke hell because they couldn't work with people.

At some point AI and human singers will meet in the middle, Micky Bubble is already using autotune live, one day record companies will think 'Why are we still paying this jerk?'.

The goal of the tech companies is to represent people completely virtually on the Internet / Metaverse, so that the singer no longer has to leave the house, the singer is then an avatar, a computer-generated person. There are then also no more interactions between audience and a band, because everything takes place in a virtual space, a concert hall is virtualized, the audience also, so people are made of mental broken.

@Crinklebumps has already recognized how dangerous AI is, your new house robot takes care of your dishes and the pizza service for your nutrition, you work at home. You don't have to leave the house anymore and can dive into virtual reality and lose yourself there forever. Oh yes, if you don't use your PC for 3 days, the AI sends you a hearse and picks you up from home.

At this point I think it's right to point out that I am in fact also AI.

Hmm. I downloaded the Gospel/Baptist version of one, but I think it might be cracked wrong. After 10 minutes it starts Speaking in Tongues and asking for a donation.

One day my new house robot (Elon Musk model Help for 2000 dollars), after a faulty update, will decide that the guy, that is me, at the PC does not belong there, he will classify me as an enemy and then eliminate me and dispose of me outside in the trash can.

This should rather be seen as normal competition (in a darwinistic sense)
And it could lead to a situation where artists improve again and pay more attention to quality and skill.
However, anyone who doesn't manage to do significantly better than these AIs will be sorted out in the long run.

But real artists with real skills will probably never be replaced by AIs, or at least not for a long time, as you said.
So, all in all, it's not that negative.

I get your point, but for me music is about the imperfections that make it real. For example, I prefer a live drummer over quantized drums. I know it is a matter of taste, and you could even say I am old school. I use all these modern tricks when composing, but everything is played live on a finished track, so maybe I really am stuck in the past

Stay as you are @Zenarcist and don't doubt what you do and are. No one knows what the world will look like in the future, are there any skilled drummers still performing live ? I think the way we talk and think here will not exist anymore.

A drum rhythm machine is reliable and does what it's meant for. However, it sounds cold and not very lively. That's why the Roland company built the DR-880 with an algorithm that mimics the inaccurate beating of a real drummer's snare.

It is said that techno is a music without soul. The name techno already says that we live in a technical world. Accordingly, the music is also a reflection of society itself, namely techno but inhuman.

Since the smart phone took over the world, but the user is completely overwhelmed with the device, we also have overwhelmed people and 40% of young people permanently lose their cognitive abilities.

Man is imperfect and makes mistakes. He longs for machines that tell him which decision is the right one. Today a large part sits alone in front of the PC/notebook and replaces a whole band. The consequence is loneliness and no more human interactions. The machines become more and more, because one can earn a lot of money with it and because one can control humans better with more machines.

I fully agree with you. I'm at least old school as well but on the other hand I alweays try to see the positive side of things.
I really hate some kind of modern MTV style "music" where the "artist" has almost no skills but having a lovely face and a beautiful body.
This type of "artist" will feel heavy pressure by Ais in the future and that can have really good effects on overall musical quality.

On the other hand I really LOVE gifted people with a great voice and/or enormous musical skills on an instrument (imperfections included oc)and may they look as ugly as hell. I don't look at them but I only see their artistry and then they become lovely to me (that's why I don't like music vids). This type of artistry will never die.

Can we include arts in general here. My wife is a potter and every now and then she gets a crisis of purpose because pieces she makes by hand are offered in the supermarket for a few dollars in great perfection from some Chinese factory. That's just the difference between art and mass production.

Can't agree more but lets not get too political otherwise the thread gets closed again :mates:

There is a english third party library, from which I posted a video some posts ago, called Solaria, and imo it is the most realistic.
Also tried out emvoice, it's ok and simple to use, but as you said a bit limited in voices.
But I think in the end, you could get more potential out of Synthesizer V in times of altering an editing, although the libs are quite expensive. Solaria for example would cost (with taxes) about 100€.
About 20 Euros more than the program itself.
Oh, and I forgot, you can use different language phonemes on some libraries.

can you please show me an example of a vocal you consider decent from Vocaloid or Emvoice...cause i hear issues in all the voices i tried testing...

Solaria is almost human at times

also if anyone else prefers vocaloid or emvoice over Synthesizer V...please tell us which voices you like with examples if possible

Text to Speech - Singing Synth - VSTi - Standalone

    1.) Text to Speech v1.3 VST : VST Speek ! - Windows 32 & 64
VST Speek is a free vocal synthesis VST plugin for recreating the old skool robotic text to speech we all love. Choose a preset, type any text and let’s speak !
    https://blog.wavosaur.com/text-to-speech-vst-vst-speek/

    2.) Plogue - chipspeech VST
chipspeech is a vintage-styled speech synthesizer which recreates the sound of famous 80's voice synthesis chips.
    www.plogue.com/products/chipspeech.html

    3.) AnalogX - Syit v2.04
Are you ready to dazzle and amaze your friends by generating custom computer synthesized speech? Yes, I know it sounds almost like a dream too wonderful to be true, but your computer just needs a nudge in the right direction... With AnalogX SayIt!
Inspired by that evil device many of us were tormented by as children, the Speak&Spell, AnalogX SayIt gives your computer a synthesized voice to rival that of Colossus (from the movie Colossus: The Forbin Project). Type in any word or phrase, set the sliders to the appropriate settings, and click the 'Render' button - out pops a nice little wave file. Or, if you are just playing around, use the 'Preview' button and hear what it sounds like. It's that simple.
AnalogX SayIt outputs 16-bit wave files, and can handle phrases up to 500 characters, more than enough for your average computer speech needs.

4.) Yamaha - Vocaloid (Singing Synth)
Vocaloid uses Frequency-Domain Singing Articulation Splicing and Shaping, a vocal (singing voice) synthesizing system developed by Yamaha.
With this system, the "Singing articulations" (Collections of voice snippets, such as phrases, and snippets of vocal expression variations like vibrato) needed to reproduce vocals are collected from custom produced recordings of accomplished singers and put into a database after conversion into frequency domains.

5.) Synthesizer V marks the first singing synthesizer that uses a hybrid AI/sample concatenation engine.

6.) Emvoice - Emvoice One VSTi - Free (voices purchased separately)
Please note: Emvoice One is a cloud-based plugin and requires an internet connection to install and to run.
Emvoice One is a vocal synthesizer plugin (VST/AU) that generates vocal lines from scratch.
Program notes and type words and phrases to generate sung vocals in your DAW, or use MIDI, then create glissando and vibrato patterns with note editing, then choose custom pronunciation and stylization options to tailor the performance.

In the 80's, during the boom-era of synths and electronic drums, there was a lot of discussion about “real music vs fake music”, a topic that has become obsolete over the years. Today we listen to music without asking ourselves if it is generated by synth / sampler / drum machine / VST or any other electronic device: what we ask of a song is that it gives us emotions, the technical procedures used are completely irrelevant. No music composer would ever think of replacing a live drummer with a TR808 just to save on the budget: they have two different vibrations and therefore lead the song in different directions, it is a purely artistic matter.
In the same way vocal emulators should be considered as musical instruments in themselves, as long as we consider them cheap substitutes for a human being we will never be able to get the true soul out of them.

Here an impressive performance by Hatsune Miku, most famous Vocaloid voice & also virtual superstar in Japan. Obviously, the character on stage is a hologram
