    I just tried it. Threw a bunch of TV shows I d/l'd into it. All I got was black no picture, just sound. Went back to 2.8

    I dunno... in the old days VLC played everything. But recent years not so much. Especially lately. All the video instructionals I've been downloading here lately VLC can't play. I gotta use MPC.

    Plus I can't be doing endless internet searches in order to figure out which combination in VLC's rats nest of preferences to check or uncheck in a vain attempt to try and get it to work, lol

    see last update 15 days ago, its not entirely dead.

    codecguide, the creator of k-lite codec pack, which includes MPC as the player said this in July 2017:

    i am not really worried, MPCHC still plays everything i throw at it, while VLC is just a player i dont like and which doesnt anything i want it to play.

    continue using k-lite mega codec pack with my beloved MPHC.

    VLC V3 seems to handle 4K video more smoothly (thanks!) – but still no skins working in OSX! I don't need anything fancy, but an all-dark GUI option shouldn't be too much to expect in 2018.

    As for overdriven audio signal, the application seems to be calibrated for playback of audio files created prior to the advent of the Loudness Wars. Not that its developers should adjust their algorithms accordingly – it's stupid that audio is jacked-to-shit like that, anyway. That's like expecting everyone in your family adjust to your decision to SPEAK ONLY BY YELLING!

    Man!!! I have a 3 year old nephew that wasn't even conceived, let alone born when that bug was first introduced.

    Besides!!! out of the several million people who use VLC Player, if only ONE person hears a pitch change in the music, the odds of it actually BEING a bug,(as opposed to something wrong with that person's hearing) is less than winning the star prize on the lottery, TWICE, in successive weeks!
