vladg/sound has announced Nova-67P, a free equalizer/compressor effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

Nova-67P is a parallel parametric equalizer plugin combined with a compressor. The compressor can optionally operate in frequency dependent and split-band modes. In this case the plugin operates as a parallel dynamic equalizer.

5 bands parallel equalizer with auto-gain.
Optional high-pass and low-pass filters.
Full-band frequency dependent and/or split-band compression.
Side-chain filtering and pre-emphasis.
Third-octave real-time spectrum analysis.

I LOVE this plugin! definitely a front-runner in the contest..has to be.

 

This looks very promising, at a quick test is sound really good, and I a really interesting concept too.

I made a very quick (and crappy) skin in 5 minutes, cause that B/W was quite of a punch in my eyes.
Here it is, instructions are included in the zip. I would share it on the Nova-67P's thread at KVR but I won't do it, cause:

1 - I'm not going to sign up at KVR just for this.
2 - I will get kicked in my pirate's ass as I put my name in the readme and I guess I have not-so-many fans over there

It's for Mac, I don't know where bmp files are on Win, if you find 'em it should work on Win too.
Hope you enjoy it better than original, sure it deserves way better work.

In windows I guess you have to use PE.Explorer to that, since there is only a .dll in the zip, and no user data folders are created at first launch.

Wouldn't be difficult to create a skin, but since is v.1.0 I will wait and maybe future improvements include a better gui.

Too bad the guy also stopped backwards compatibility with older macs.
The white original GUI is definitely too harsh on the eyes.
I could also provide other skins but i cannot test them…

BTW: KVR sucks mEGa–BIG! You can't even register with a non-usual e-mail address. Fukk KVR!
