I'll add my Wavetables also with this method (585 wavetables from HiVE, Faw Circle, etc) and after starting Vital and add a wavetable with the browser there a more then 200 in my "Global Wavetables" folder automatically.

With the symlink trick it adds all of the folders at once so no need to add one by one.

I was playing around with wavetables today and I got the idea to create a wavetable from my Prophet 6 F#0 note saw filter sweep and use it to compare the Serum and Vital sound engines. The P6 wavetable was imported with F#0 as root (48Khz recording), corrected for phase and normalized. Audio volume matched (peaks).

    1) Direct audio from Prophet 6 F#0 with a standard cutoff sweep by the hardware filter envelope.
    2) Serum imported wavetable sweep
    3) Serum imported wavetable (fully open saw) and sweep with the Serum LP24 filter; no res or any special settings
    4) Vital imported wavetable sweep
    5) Vital imported wavetable (fully open saw) and sweep with the Vital Dirty LP24 filter; no res or any special settings

(Note: these are NOT wavetables, I've made these wavs to compare the P6 hardware sound with the Serum and Vital engine without and with software filter; if you want the P6 wavetable: see post below)

It is not 100% comparable due to the wavetable editing and the automation in software not matching the timing of the hardware envelope. But it should give an impression.

And attached the Serum created wavetable should you want to experiment yourself. You can drag this onto a Serum or Vital oscillator and you're good to go. Or you can copy this to the user wavetable directory of both synths.

    Hi
Thx for the great info. I just want to know what symlink is and how to do it. I know symlink installer on the sister site but would like to learn about it for Vital folders and subfolders. Any tutorial or tips?
    Thank you.

I am looking for sound in a Gesaffelstein / Lorn mood. If anyone has any ideas on how to make Vital sound like that, or preset, that would be amazing!

Sorry never heard about this song. Got an example?

You can create a great mood by using @thedarkbird's saw table in a vital oscillator and cranking up unison.

Guys, I've used the symlink trick, and it works, BUT I ended up with all the wave tables located in my wave table folder as a list in my user folder of Vital VST.

The problem is that there are many of them, and in the folder where they are, they are organized by folders, which helps a lot when loking for something specific.

So, even if it's a bit more work, I'll add each of these folders in Vital's wave table library, as on the long term it will be much easier to work with.

    There's no need for Symlinks.

    Hit
    Code:
    windows key + r
    and type in
    Code:
    explorer %appdata%\Vital
    [IMG]

And there you have your Vital config file.
Open it in any text editor and change the path to your new Vital presets folder.

In my case I just copied it to L:\Vital.
To make sure it works, I renamed the original path and started Vital - nothing in the browser.
After editing the config and changing the path, everything works.

Also thought that "authenticated":true could mean no login window if that config file
is copied before the installation but the login data gets stored somewhere else.
Working on a Vital installer including presets etc. so I don't have to install everything
manually when giving it to friends.

The symlinking process is to add your serum or any wavetables without having to add each wavetables folder and noises 1 by 1. I'll take a look at the config file on mac though. Also notice you got the Halycon presets

Oeps, should have read at least one page backwards.
Anyways, maybe it helps someone to save space.
