VisiStage is a mixing plug-in that shows where each sound is actually sitting, rather than only where the pan control is pointed.

Each track is an icon on a stage. The icon shape is a live 128-band spectrum, left and right. Icon width is level. The shadow is stereo width. The mist is reverb. A true-position aura shows the sound’s actual stereo position against the position you placed.

Icons can be dragged to place a source in a room, from a tight studio to a stadium. Room width, depth and height are adjustable, as are wall hardness, floor density, air clarity, reflection gap and wash.

Under the stage is a full console: faders, VCA grouping, mute, solo, pan, depth, width, track colour and name, plus an analogue-modelled strip on every track — eight-band EQ, VCA compressor, gate, phase alignment and saturation, with ten console models. Processing is zero added latency, so an instance can sit on every track in a large session. Every parameter is automatable.

A recipe library of more than 70 starting points applies effects, placement and overrides in one step. Users can save and share their own.

VisiStage V2 is available for macOS, Windows and Linux, in AU and VST3.

A 14-day free trial needs an email address only, no card. It is currently on a launch price.

I hear you, but read the price comparison: https://visistage.com/price-comparison

An awful lot of work has gone into creating this — as well as maintaining and upgrading it. I am committed for the long term to make this the best mixing environment possible. I have lots of plans for future upgrades — and the license is a perpetual lifetime license.

It is important to know, that this is only applicable for completely dry signals. Any distance to a microphone in a reverberating room distorts this equasion.

Nowadays I question the importance of position measurement, since spacial perception depends on the listening environment and position more then any measurement device is able to deliver anyways.

But it is nice to have an immediate overview about all the signal parameters in one screen.

    looks interesting.

Growing up a vinyl hi-fi nerd, I totally loved recordings where it sounded like the band were actually in the room with you (or you were in the room with them), and the traditional skillsets used to achieve that intimacy.

Will definitely give the demo a go.

When you say this is only applicable for dry signals, I assume you mean the icon depth on the stage will not show the real depth of the sound in the spatial field. That it is true. However, the true position aura does show the signal’s placement in the stereo field.

What is more, the track override settings allow you to fine tune the tracks interactions with the room physics — or override them completely.

VisiStage was designed to sit at the end of your effects chain and ensure you can still use your favorite effectors as part of the signal before it takes over and provides you with a cohesive mix environment for the whole session.

    Just me again Terrence.

Can you clarify roughly the price in GBP (£), and if the introductory offer applies, and when it reverts to normal pricing.

    Thanks in advance.

Canvas is a beautifully done visual mixing plugin based off this early 90s research project: https://soundhealingcenter.com/virtual-mixer/

There are three important differences between Canvas and VisiStage: the fader strip, the spatial field and the analog emulation DSP. There are also, as you say, a huge number of other advanced features that VisiStage has as well.

Bottomline, VisiStage is a serious pro spatial mixing environment, Canvas is a novel way of viewing your stereo mix.

    I hope that helps.

I actually came up with this idea in the late 80s when listening to a Rodgers Water’s album in the back of a van — while in a rather altered state (if you know what I mean ) I was blown away at how it actually sounded like I was listening to a band on a stage — hence the name Visual Stage mixer: VisiStage.

I actually hired a software company in the mid 90s to try and build it as a plugin, but the technology was just not up to it.

This is something I have always wanting for mixing my own music and I have built it with all the features and tools I want/need to perfect my productions.

I hope you enjoy it also!

Hi Colin, approximately £93.30 - depending on exchange rates. I will revert to the retail price once we have built up some ‘social proof’ of VisiStage’s true value. I was hoping to achieve that soon. VisiStage is already being used by some very serious engineers and producers in some major studios. I am waiting on a few reviews and testimonials in the coming days. As you can see from the quotes on the home page, we already have a number of them, but I want to ensure there is an overwhelming perception of it’s true value before I change up the price.

    I hope that helps.
