How do you add your Wah, the old fashioned way or with a plugin?

    Virtual Wah’s-
    Ever use them?
    Whats your favorite Wah plugin?
Do you make your own effect? Like this-
    https://www.bluecataudio.com/Tutorials/Tutorial_MIDIWah/
Do you use auto Wah with amp plugins?
Anyone know of any that uses midi keyboard's Pitch and modulation wheels?

    Lets hear what you think.

    Great question.

I tend to draw it in post recording. Not ideal, but effective enough. I used to use the Guitar Rig pedal until NI ceased supporting it.

Id be interested in a dedicated midi volume/wah pedal if such a thing exists.

I'm still waiting for a cheap USB MIDI pedal that I can use for volume/wah with VST amp sims - it's such a simple concept that I won't pay a lot of money for it. Come on Behringer...

Paradoxally, I don't like wah pedals for wah. Fabfilter Saturn and Soundstoys Filterfreak are both excellent choices. You can really dial it in just right, especially with Filterfreak.

    #EDIT
Actually, the juicy filters from keyscape are an exeption. Those sound INSANE. I think they're also in Omnisphere, not sure how one would go about actually using them on a guitar or whatever.

I tested many of them two months ago and for my tastes the best was Kuassa WahWah Filter (Efektor WF3607).
    https://www.kuassa.com/products/efektor-wf3607-wah-filter/

The wah wah (Classic) inserted in Logic's pedal plugs is also good enough.

You can write your modulation via keyboard or directly from the plug while recording it in the DAW and refine details accurately after in Editing.

Oh... and since the wah wah is a simple filter you could - more or less - recreate that sound yourself with any plug high and low pass filters (for example: Pulsar Modular P565 Filter Set Siren)

    +1 for Kuassa.

I love Neural DSP for amp sims and their effects are awesome too, but their wah pedals sound like my old pre-school teacher's nails ripping my anus apart.

I use kiloHearts Ladder Filter with an envelope follower, mostly because it's trivially easy to change release & attack or change the direction.

They already have one: the FCB1010

I use my FCB1010 for wah or volume swells etc, usually while I'm playing, but if it doesn't sound right I just delete the envelope and record a new take for just the wah.

Since Archetype Cory Wong was released I have usually used the wah in that plug-in. Kuassa's Efektor Wah is also a nice one that gets used from time to time! If I'm feeling a bit more adventurous I use UVI Shade or Volcano 3.

I use a Moog EP-3, 1/4" into the expression pedal input on my old Novation Remote 25 and midi-map it to the wahs in Guitar Rig. Works fine for guitar and can also be used as a standard expression pedal with vsti's. https://www.thomann.de/gb/moog_ep3.htm.

On the other hand, their Whammy simulation on Archetype Gojira is more than compensating for their shitty wahs, so give it a try if that's up your alley :)

I'm doing the same with much cheaper gear (M-audio expression pedal into Roland A-300).
Couldn't understand why others didn't do the same :dunno:

Fair play. I was going to go with the M-Audio pedal but having read many reviews decided to plump for the EP-3, which I got a good deal on. It's built well and hasn't given me any problems after a decade of use, or so.

The EP-3 is good value for money and it works with hardware too.

I don't use it much. But when I need it, I use the ones that come with Guitar Rig. It is enough for me.

I have a couple of guitar multieffects units that would probably transmit the midi data too, but I don't want these huge things beneath my feet or around the floor, I don't have that much space. I just want a single pedal.

I use Novation Launch Key MK2 but it has sustain pedal 1/4 jack socket...

Can i use Moog EP-3 1/4 into sustain pedal 1/4 jack socket instead of expression pedal to get the same result like yours ?
