Hi, I have a genuine question. Now this is not only about Viper/Virus but in general. If the sound is 90% close or more, then what is the problem? You are almost never going to hear it isolated, right? And even if you do, 90% of the people will listen to it on the phone, on budget speakers, etc.
So, I ask you, myself, many others, why this obsession on getting the sound? It's not for the music itself, it doesn't need it, it's for yourself.

here is a genuine answer. a recording is the sum of hundreds, if not thousands; of decisions. so people scrutinize every single step of it they can.

    Hello @Backtired and @clone.

When I make music I have high standards for myself, it must first please myself.
In other words, I screw around with the sounds until it meets my demands and I'm satisfied.

Many bands consist of several people, singer, bassist, guitarist, drummer and maybe a keyboarder. The band meets to make music.
Some bands are so good and unique that there is a need for people to hear and buy it.
The band goes to a record label and then to the studio. If you build a house, you will also have trained professionals build it.

If you want to sell music or go on TV, there are standards that have to be met. It's a kind of quality assurance.
In the discotheque, people might dance to your music. Everyone wants to hear good quality.

I think every musician strives to deliver very good music, because nobody really loves bad music. It's not about the 90% of morons who
have no taste in music anyway and have been listening to radio bla bla in mono forever, it's about the remaining 10%. Besides, music
will outlive us. After death, many songs are still available in stores or on the Internet and hopefully in good sound quality.

Obsession or in other words dedication to the music or what your heart burns for, is the basic requirement to manage
at all the many work and to stay with it and have creative ideas. It is not a normal job with 8 hours, but a life mission.

This is a big thread who goes bananas , for a shitty synth , who in my opinion ,doesn't sound that good ...
To Adam Szabo : Is easy to emulate a brand and ask for money ... Is very hard to ask money for something new unbranded , especially if you don't have a name ... I clearly donate some cash to the other developer , instead of paying a full price for your synth, who does the same thing ... Emulate a Virus ...

That's not true. For the music I make, Viper won't cut it. If you're making some lofi stuff, it's fine. But that's not what I'm doing. Different genres call for different sounds.

I'm glad my favorite bands don't have the same "good enough" attitude as you. People have no clue the amount of dedication it takes to make it in the music business. That comes with never settling for "good enough".

Here is the classic: You devalue others in order to enhance yourself.
So what we hear and read often, with people who get themselves NOTHING on the row.
Let's hear what you have already done in your life ?

it's enough time to figure out how an open source programmer did something you couldn't.

He made a normal vst synth like 1000 other , who sound like 1000 other , and he need to be praised ... No , thank you ... This synth is not something extraordinary , is just another vst synth ... Period ... And is not good as U-he Diva's , or like Sylenth . But from what I see in this thread , he love drama and he love to be a victim ... And what I've done in my life, is not a subject too debate here ...

So... clearly I don't own a Virus TI, but I've tried running the same roms through the Emulator and Viper.

Earlier posters are suggesting the Viper patches are 95%+ similar to how they would sound on a TI Virus.

But the Emulator and Viper patches sound at best 50% similar and in some instances a lot less.

I'm unsure as to what extent the FX for each of these VSTs are contributing to the sound of the raw waveform/wavetable?

Or maybe I'm using the wrong version of the Emulator to compare the Viper patch against??

Viper is set to emulate the VirusTI. As far as I know, the emulator only emulates Virus B & C at the moment, in which case patches for the VirusTI may not translate as well on the emulator as they do on Viper.

This is only ok if u are satisfied with an Unusable Emulation !
DSP Emu = 30-54% CPU Usage, Viper 3-15%.... See the difference ???

    Virus Ti/Viper
    Has Multisaw which A, B, C didn't have
    Also
Has different Modulators like for example 1% Constant or 10% Constant which A, B, C didn't have
And for sure some other little differences
    Also
Virus Ti/Viper is subtle more Digital
and Virus A, B, C is more Warmth
