No, reading files is much harder than writing them.

I don't understand the hate against developers that improves their product(s). There will always be a competitor with a new feature that the rest don't have. Then you can adapt and integrate that functionality in your product, or you can ignore it and then meet the "Kodak doom" in the long end.

The competition gives everyone an edge and increases development to provide the customers with excellent products.
Why would it be wrong to improve his product due to competition from another product if that was the case?

Its a bloody emulation and Adam tried to get as close as possible and for that its.

I mean how expensive was Virus TI/Snow? And how much do you pay for Viper?!

    Its still good.

I can confirm it works great and as expected.

I spent some time last night comparing presets on both. I compared individually and with projects I have that just use the VirusTI. The majority of the presets translated perfectly, others in the ballpark with only minor tweaks to get them there, but overall its pretty uncanny how close Adam has gotten Viper to sound like the VirusTI. Ive owned my VirusTI since 2006 and it's the only synth I would never sell because it's tied into so many of my projects. However, these days I just use Viper because it's so damn close and I dont have to worry about sync issues or polyphony limitations. In a mix you can not tell the difference.

expensive vs. cheap. (sorta). These are still apples and oranges to even compare this way. You still need a laptop either way.

They are different things entirely. and then even more so for someone's own specific purposes.

I am on a MacBook Pro with ssd. the DSP emulator can run decently, but only a few instances.
Nothing like a hardware virus. Still requires a laptop. Maybe Viper has better cpu and you get more instances. Laptop has no Midi interface. more non comparable costs.

What Laptop? A Toughbook? Which Keyboard Controller?

I know lots of companies do it but it's pointless to do a sound comparison on YouTube since the sound is so compressed. Listen to Virus & Viper on studio grade headphones. I did, and one of them sounded a whole lot better than the other. I'll leave it at that.

I bet any number of the electronic musicians on here can make Fast Tracker sound like a Les Paul. or damn close.

I can also make my car sound like it is ready for race day if I cut the exhaust system off it.

"access" should cash in on all this free necro-hype about the virus. hire a programmer who knows about Virus, ARM and all the M1 plugin hosts. :)

Would i buy a virus? No good please no. I dont have the money and with the DSP emu on the corner i simply wouldnt (Snow emu comes in the future)

The HW Virus just requires space and costs to much. Would much prefer a software solution - ohh well the virus is actual a software version in a very expensive case.

I still think that Adams solution is right now the best way to get away with a cheap software virus version.

but that is not a direct comparison. but it's bait enough to lead conversation away from what I sent you a pm about. :)

if you are a musician, you literally need a laptop, audio interface and keyboard controller to replace a hw virus. even assuming they sound the same. I'm not sure space is a consideration at that point, well I know it isn't. 7/8 of this stuff is easily handled by automation/multichannel daw recording. it doesn't mean you even need it. especially not for bouncing 16 bar hypersaw trance loops or half what it gets used for. :)

Nucleus SoundLab - Viral Outbreak 1.0 VSTi (No Longer Available) 3,5 GB

Viral Outbreak is based on the sounds of Access Music's Virus TI hardware synthesizer. Using the power of extensive 96kHz multi-sampling, manual looping and professional preset design, Nucleus SoundLab brings this powerful electronica sound to your productions as a VSTi plugin and a Reason 4.0 Refill.

Viral Outbreak contains all manner of TI-based sounds. Classic wavetables, raw saw and pulse waveforms (sampled at multiple pulse-widths), unison dance leads, breathtaking pads, bizarre formant effects, massive supersaws and even punchy synth drumkits.

Well but you can play the virus without controller! remember the original/budget version has no keys.

But yes. My point was that Adams Viper is cheaper than the HW Virus and since i assume we all have decent Interface/controller (you should have if you are here for a longer time), then Viper is with all its things the better solution and on top of it - it is continously developed.#

Anyway, i cant give this new version a test right now, since i am actual not in range of my studio stuff.
