Over the years I´ve got myself a pretty good and large collection of vinyl. they have really been a pain - especially when I´ve had to move from place to place - but luckly I kept them.
Basic line: I havent listen to my vinyl collection since (I guess) late 80´ties.

Resently I´ve invested in some old HI-FI gear - I´ve never been any expert in HI-FI matters so you´ll prolly laugh when you see my list of gear:

    Preamp: Denon PMAR
    Speakers: B&W DM 220
    Grammofon: B&O Beogram 2000

    So:
Why do you listen to vinyls?
    &
    What is your gear?

    A reborn vinyl-freak

2x Technics SL1200, Pioneer mixer, KRK monitors.... I own over 2000 records. Recent years it has been collecting dust since I went digital and don't DJ in the clubs/parties/raves anymore.

Gray hair  Touché. Rotary mixers are dope! Particularly when having to perform in real large, acoustically sound and purposely designed rooms with a few thousand people on a very powerful system. Why do I listen to vinyl? The warmth, the bottom end. Analogue. Naturally its all dependent on the equipment, leads, pick up, stylus, amplification stage, quality of speakers/monitors, cross overs and crucially the listening environment etc... plus ones hearing capabilities and perception of sound.. choice of musical style or genré .. and of course the mastering, cutting, quality of vinyl and actual pressing of the record itself :woot: Now, where's my ipod?

me-Harmon Kardon belt drive turntable with an Ortofon cartridge. ART turntable pre-amp. Thorens and Beograms are both great turntables. The B&O Beogram is in an award winning design that is in a museum of modern art.

Because of great deep and warm analog sound, dust etc...
Try to find "Yello - Flag" or "KLF - The white room" on vinyl, it's just a great sound and it sound better then CD.

I have to admit I use my Vinyl only for sampling these days. I like not to be bothered with switching sides and it actually doesn't help the sound quality to listen to a vinyl often. The high frequencies will depreciate every time you run the needle through the groove. But maybe that's ok since it's the same with your hearing and that great numbness a.k.a warmth comforts you :) :bleh:
