    Hello, how are you?
I hope you are all doing well.

I am in the process of purchasing a Lenovo G34w-30 34" WQHD Curved monitor screen.
The question is, with these monitor specifications on my PC, can it run smoothly?

My needs so far are usually for music production in Cubase 13 and occasional gaming (Genshin Impact and The Witcher 3 in normal/not ultra settings).

Do I have to change my VGA card? Radeon RX 6500 XT.
If I have to replace it, do you have any suggestions for a suitable VGA?
    I'm using a Seasonic 650 W 80+ Bronze PSU.

    Thank you in advance.

    My specs :

    Prosesor Intel® Core™ i3-12100F 3.30 GHz
Team Delta RGB DDR4 Desktop Memory White 64 GB (2x32GB) 3200 MHZ CL6
    ASRock B660 Steel Legend
MSI Radeon RX 6500 XT MECH 2X 4G OC

    SSD NVMe Adata XPG Gammix S70 Blade Gen4 x4 - 1 TB
    SSD NVMe Klevv CRAS C710 Gen3 x4 - 512 MB
    SSD NVMe V-GeN SSD M.2 NVMe Hyper Gen3 x4 - 512 MB

    PSU Seasonic S12-III SSR650GB 650 Watt 80+ Bronze
    UPS APC Easy UPS 1200VA

    Old monitor Philips Brilliance 224CL

I have no idea about gaming at all. Do you use a USB hub by chance? A lot of the ones with more features have ports for hdmi, displayport, etc. But if not you can get a cheap usb->whatever conversion cable anyway. I just wanted to see what the AI would say. It says you should be able to get away with it.

you: Will Lenovo G34w-30 34" WQHD work with Radeon RX 6500 XT?

    ChatGPT
Yes, the Lenovo G34w-30 34" WQHD monitor should work with the Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card. Both the monitor and the graphics card have compatible display interfaces, likely DisplayPort and HDMI, which should allow them to connect and communicate properly. Just make sure your graphics card has the necessary ports to connect to the monitor, and you should be good to go.

If you already have Radeon RX 6500 XT, I don't think you need to change it. Everything should be smooth, including the gaming as you described.
This VGA is pretty powerful, especially if you have 8GB Memory on it :winker:

I think my 6500 XT has 4 GB GDDR6. Hope it will work.

should be fine at full resolution, you can connect either DisplayPort 1.4 (or HDMI 2.0), your gpu should have those

for gaming, it's rather weak, you might have more luck using AMD's FSR or Intel's XESS upscaling,
for reference my GTX1080Ti can barely run recent games at 60fps on my 3440x1440 screen, and it's way stronger card...

Yes, I have two ports (DP & HDMI).

    I see.
Do you have any VGA recommendation for 2K monitor on 2024?

    Nice to know.
Yes, I believe GTX 1080 Ti still great until this day for 3440x1440 screen. My friend own it and beast until now.

The best thing you can do for your music is to get a video card that sucks for gaming. The only thing more helpful is an Operating System that sucks for gaming even more. :)

    for gaming?
something like RX 7800XT or RTX 4070 Super seem like sweetspot with bit of futureproofing,
but they both officially require 700-750W power supply, so if you have 650W psu, then it's borderline, and not worth the overall upgrade cost gpu+psu just yet - next generation of gfx cards will probably be more power efficient,
btw 1080Ti also needs 750W psu, so from power efficiency perspective it's not really worth it anymore nowadays,
of used gpus, maybe RX 6700XT might be worth a go if price is right, 650W psu should be fine

I'm using a RTX 3060, fairly low power usage, quiet, powerful enough for 4K work, stem separation for audio use, and fairly good for games, unless you're sucker for high frame rates, my display only goes for 60Hz anyway, and with DLSS I can run a lot of games with decent amount of detail at 1080p/4K.

Not hardcore AAA-games at 144Hz though.

    I assume, is that Linux?

Back to the past (when I'm younger), gaming is the big distraction af for making music. :)

On weekend usually I play game with lil kid watch me play. Yes casual gaming but in 2K resolution monitor.

    I see.
I will consider to put a budget to bigger PSU for futureproofing.

    But 6700 XT seems nice.
I wil dig on it to find the white color graphic card.
I try to build my PC with white color.

    Many thanks

Actually stable at 60 FPS is more than enough for me at this moment.
So, I assuming 3060 was nice for 2K resolution on casual gaming right? Some of seller on my local place offering me 3060, but I haven't decice yet.

I'm newbie at technical, does DLSS run on Radeon cards too?

    I just know it.
And thanks for let me know

no, DLSS needs RTX series nVidia cards, because uses their proprietary RT cores to accelerate DLSS

Yeah, but the issue is that even if you're not doing full time video work, having a decent GPU is useful for some audio work (noise reduction, stem separation, you know, deep learning stuff), and then there's also audio-adjacent things like decent video encoding/decoding, that sort of stuff.

To get a decent one capable of running those it means either paying through the nose for a professional AMD/NVidia GPU... or buying a gamer one that has decent performance for those for way less €€€.

And trust me, there are a lot of time-destroying games that run on a potato...

Hi, do you have any recommendation for my system specification especially for Lenovo G34w-30 34" WQHD Curved monitor screen?
Or okay just on my old GPU? RX 6500 XT.
    Many thanks

You do realize my comment was about not getting wrapped up in gaming, right? Spare me the tech info.

For running that display at the widescreen at 1440p it should be fine, only consider an upgrade if it's failing to do something.

So yeah, it's most likely fine. Especially for audio work. I'd consider only switching if there is something it won't do.
