Took more time today to test this "beast" on a working mix, only to find out its not really all the hype people were expecting to be.
Im really disappointed for several reasons.
First the preset finder is a pita to work with.
I like to work by memory for quick work and it really annoys the shit out of me when all presets are labeled fg1,fg2345,fg4245,fgx1224....is it really that hard to spend some time with the names?
Fg-pancake reverb....at least its original and i can remember where i was...

    The sound.
Its just flat, uninspiring reverbs....this things can in no way compete with Altiverb. In Altiverb rooms and halls have a distinct sound, you can tell when you switch the room, with verbsuite the differences are rather small.
Even Lexicon sounds better, hell i would even prefer working with Breverb 2 over this.

The first time i tested VC was a few days ago and just thought i might have a bad day because it was a total left down, only today to again find out its just not that good.

Its not bad, however i had really high expectations about this one thats why i was expecting more.

I've heard a few people say it's just a stripped down version of Reverberate 2.

Same for Repeater. Stripped down Sigmund delay.

It didn't really live up to my expectations either. I had some luck with certain drum sounds but it felt kind of plasticy on other things. You are right the browser is a HUGE PITA. I can't imagine how that got okayed.

    No expectations at all.
The gui looks well, the sound was fine. Why you expect it too much?
Now fabfilter's pro-R is my favorite, and decide to buy it, uninstall most warez. The simple is the best

I have learned long time ago, that the difference in sound quality between freeware, cheapware, and expensiveware is usually pretty small, if any, and sometimes the expensiveware actually sucks. Price, amount of megabytes, GUI, copy protection, and the famous brand behind it doesn't have to mean the plugin is top of the line when it comes to sound. Really, if all of you only tried doing more blind testing you would get surprised. All these things that I mentioned can make everybody hear differently, even when you think you're not biased. Your brain can be really deceptive. I've done my blind testing, and that's why I still really like my Valhalla reverbs and use no convolution plugins at all.

Regarding Slate plugins, they all sound pretty average to me. Nothing special, really. I get more from Klanghelm, Toneboosters, and Valhalla for pocket money.

    Cheers! :headbang:

Preset finder is so simple and childish and when i say simple i dont mean it in a good way.
Its really hard to have any sense of where you are or where you were 2 secs. ago.Look at Altiverb, its so organized you always know where you are.
I really like Slate`s stuff but imo he was too quick to release this.

Yeah I like it well enough. But the menu is meh. The ReLab LX480 and Adaptiverb were the last 2 verbs that really impressed me.

I've just used this one on a large project, and I thought it was excellent. I've bought many reverbs, and I was disappointed with many. Flux IR-Verb wasn't good in the end.

protip: you can go through the IRs by using the scroll wheel.

But yeah, Slate released it very prematurely. There are also some phase problems with one of the emulations. This guy doesn't even use his own products before he releases them.

ReLab LX480 is one of the last to impress me, too. I love it. I guess I like the classic unreal/out of this world reverbs of the 80s and 90s, and often put gate on it. :winker: I also like and use TC 6000 reverb [not a plugin]. Some people hate TC reverbs with passion ["too bright" usually]. :)
