VB-Audio has announced the release of Hi-Fi Cable & ASIO Bridge, a virtual audio device made to manage high resolution audio streams.

Audio Applications using regular audio devices can now use ASIO Devices through the Hi-Fi Virtual Audio Cable and ASIO Bridge.

Like the VB-Cable, HiFi Cable is a virtual audio driver (MME, DX, WDM, KS, WASAPI) working as a “Virtual Audio Cable” to connect audio applications together. All incoming signals to the Cable input (Playback Device) go out to the Cable Output (Recording Device). But the HiFi Cable also works with the ASIO Bridge, allowing to route these virtual i/o into an ASIO Device.

Then ASIO Bridge enables every audio application, video game or whatever player, to take advantage of the ASIO device through their native Windows audio interface. It includes the possibility to read DVD with a Windows Player and spread the 6 or 8 outputs on your preferred professional audio device usually driven by ASIO Interface.

HiFi cable supports all sample rate from 8 kHz to 384 kHz, 16 or 24-bits resolution (bit perfect) and up to 8 channels.

The Hi-Fi Cable & ASIO Bridge for Windows is available as donationware.

As a Reaper user I've been very familiar with the concept for years. Rearoute [ASIO driver like Rewire], Reastream [VST plugin like Rewire that works over LAN], Reainsert [VST plugin for using external hardware as a plugin], Reamote ["Rewire" to another Reaper on another computer]... I always say that Reaper is an audio OS, not just a DAW. :) No other DAW is so open and flexible and I don't think many people know what's possible to do with it.

Connect 32 channels of 32-bit FP audio from another DAW or audio program? No problem - Rearoute it.

Receive/send 32 channels of audio and MIDI from/to Reaper from another computer over LAN? No problem - Reastream it.

Use another computer as an additional DSP for your VSTs? No problem - Reamote it!

Want to use your outboard compressor, multi fx, distortion pedal... as a VST? No problem - use Reainsert. :)

There's no other DAW that can do all this. Although, in most cases you get 2x ASIO latency, so all this is usable only while mixing, not while playing and recording instruments and audio. But if the ASIO latency is low enough [64-128 samples] you can use Reamote to play the instruments on another computer and not feel like there's too much latency. I find all this honestly fascinating and can't comprehend why other DAWs don't have similar plugins/tech.

Looks legit as tits! I'm surprised there are not more like it. Especially with all the usb/firewire audio interfaces floating around. Pretty sure everybody and their mom's cousin's daughter's dog's chewtoy has some kind of audio interface they run through now-a-days.

I second Sinewave too! Reaper is BEASTLY with it's latency options. Never seen ANYTHING like it. Best daw by far as far as cpu management goes.

With all due respect Steinberg already released a similar app like this for free!!! Their VSTServer which allows you to mix and match different inputs and ouputs from different ASIO interfaces

ASIO4ALL already kicks ass in this as well

Plus Plasq Wormhole has the Network side of things done properly unlike Reaper which ME DAN FUERTH had to put a stink on the forum all over the place and had to contact Justin himself to the the localhost Reastream fixed!!!

Midioverlan, VSThost +++ Yada yada yada MidiOX so many freeware tools that do cool things.

Thanks VBAUDIO for getting to party late, but at least better late than never........

Anyways some Midioverlan stuff and tools

I don't think people quite understand what this is. It's Virtual Audio Cable and Asio4all combined. Not a vst host server. Even cooler, this is very similar to rearoute, but rearoute only works in DAW. This works on your pc with all audio apps. Like virtual audio cable before, you can route streams of audio from app to app. Even route streaming internet audio to an app. But, the new feature it has one upped virtual audio cable is that it has an asio4all built in too. So not only can you route audio streams app to app, but also app to device.

And yes, Reaper is the best fookin DAW, to me at least!!!!

i use the wasapi plugin with foobar, since the audio quality is a big leap when playing lossless files.
so i am wondering if this app is perhaps something akin to this, where i can route any program/game to it and then it can output the audio with the same good quality as the foobar/wasapi combo? tx
