I've read some good opinions about UVI stuff, and I'm wondering why UVI was bought a few years ago by ImageLine (FL Studio developer). UVI licensed their sample engine to the likes of Spectrasonics, right?
And Spectrasonics is rather doing better on the market than UVI (as UVI got sold to ImageLine).
Is it just worse marketing? UVI seem to have had enough money to record/emulate great instruments/synths but they luck enough money for marketing?

    What are your thoughts?

I haven't used their synths, but I know for sure Drum Replacer is the best drum rescue tool there is. It might fall in the category of secret weapon, if there's such thing.

It's pretty hard to say they are underrated. A couple of FX plugins have been just average; but almost all their stuff is great. Some of the expansions for Falcon can be hit or miss, or just "not for everyone" may be a better way to put it. But that is every synth/sampler with many expansion libraries.

UVI-Shade is my main EQ for almost every situation.
Its quick and CPU friendly with low latency.

Relayer is a great Delay, easy to use and sounds great.
Opal is a great Compressor for every track and Masterchannel

Sometimes i use Falcon too. I have mixed feelings about it.
If you enjoy deep learning into a plugin it could be for you.
In the creative phase Falcon is to blown up.

UVI is originally two intelligent software people from France who invented a very good engine. UVI employs around 23 people and in view of the difficult market they merged with Image Line. A right decision to continue to exist in the market.

A takeover by Image Line can bring advantages but also disadvantages. With the investor's money they could theoretically develop new things or hire new people. Image Line will probably benefit from this too. Let's see what the future brings.

Spectrasonics employs around 26 people and has brought the right instruments to the market that many people buy and use.
Spectrasonics was founded by Eric Persing, who was formerly chief sound designer at Roland.

As a studio musician, remixer, producer and composer/arranger in Los Angeles, he has also worked on numerous Grammy-winning albums and Oscar-winning film scores and has worked with an eclectic group of artists.

there are very good, you just have to know what you really want before downloading every soundset if you subscribe to to the sonic pass - some libraries are HUGE... what i can say for sure though is the electric keyboard sounds are sweet sweet sweet - 3d sounding.

No, Spectrasonics does not use the UVI engine. They developed their own in-house STEAM Engine, which powers their flagship products like Omnisphere, Trilian, Keyscape, and Stylus RMX.

However, in the past, Spectrasonics’ older virtual instruments, such as Atmosphere and Trilogy, were based on the UVI engine before they transitioned to their proprietary technology.

Only the " Spectrasonics - Atmosphere VSTi" was powered by custom UVI Engine.

    I'll check it out.
But PX Memories weighs 31GB - If I use Falcon, Omnisphere2, Diva, Hive2, Repro, Pigments, AnalogLabV, SQ80V, AAS Chromaphone3, UltraAnalog3, most of CherryAudio synths, etc - will PX Memories add something that my VSTs don't offer?

UVI makes top notch soundware. I bought a lot from them. The only thing that makes me not using it that often as I would like to is the loading times of each preset. Unfortunately, from my creative perspective I rather doom browse the presets on any VSTi, because going through UVI "few seconds to 15 seconds to load any preset" can be painful. Although I come back often to it, because it has very unique and high quality sounds. If they only would manage to make it more responsive when it comes to preset loading it would be great.

I've barely dived into their stuff but I've been meaning to because what I've tried is exemplary.

Do you have the UVI soundware installed on a SSD?

I have mine straight on my mac SSD.

On my pc it is installed on an ssd - Probably the better choice if you don't have a large internal hard drive

I like the overall SOUND of their products.
I found most UVI banks sounding better than any Kontakt counterpart.

To help loading, i installed UVI on an NVME, along other ROMplers, Kontakt ...
Most presets load in less than 2 seconds.

There is no need for most of their products, analog emulations are good enough these days.
