Wow a new business model. rent instead of buy. We'll probably be seeing more of that in the near future.

To me it makes more sense the rent to own model or at least a voucher as gift after 12 months of subscription, other than that, it can be very stressful.

I was a loyal UVI customer.
Now I'm glad R2R cracked it.

Needless to mention: I really hate those software rent systems.

Or UVI will see more customers leaving in the near future.

    A glimpse into my future:

I am lost in the cloud. I now have online leases for 45 plugins.
I desperately need an app to help me make all payments on time.
I think I will have to hire an accountant.

For me the problem with all that rent systems is: Even today with perpetual licenses I'm not able to use all of my paid software as often and intensively enough as would actually make sense.
It sounds nice to have the full access to all the software and libs of the vendors. 10 times more than I own now.

But does that even double the time I'm able to work with all that stuff?

This only puts us in a dependency spiral with often completely useless costs and administration cost as @BEAT16 pointed out.
The day will come when I can no longer pay the rent or the vendors go broke or don't like me anymore. Then all the rent I have paid will be gone with the wind.

All that shit is just as dangerous as my too-high rates on credit cards.

And in how many days of full work you can think to learn to get the best use with? Own a plugin is the better way, dont use it? Sell it..this crap rent is a shitty way to get money from pros.
    No thnx.

This isn't a bad deal for mac people. cancel anytime, but.. the issue is that once you cancel, all projects with random UVI stuff mixed in will be sol... still might do the 12 mo for $240 thingy.

IMHO The renting model is good only if music is your job and you have LCC.
For everybody else (like hobbyists, or music is a part-time job), the rent is a nightmare.

A fair solution for both sides would be to freeze the plugin to a state of the last paid version with no more new projects but open, edit and render with existing projects. That should be possible.

Dammit!!! too bad I dont live in some euro town, I would be getting this for 1 dollar month USD.

Edit: I think I will fire up the VPN and try to snag it at the euro price

but, for a hobbyist its also much more economical... I think you have it backwards... Someone who makes money or has an LLC would be better off outright buying falcon for $350 and writing it off as a business expense... where at the subscription price I can use falcon for a year and still be paying 100 less overall... subscriptions make more sense for hobbyists

It was $200 ish on sale nearly 2 years ago. It was 33% off the Black Friday sale the year before R2R cracked it.

I prefer the EastWest subscription for $19.99 a month. I know most of the libraries have been cracked but if you're serious about your productions then $19.99 a month is nothing. :guru:

    No demos? How many gigabytes?

Yeah but EW is mostly orchestral, they have other stuff but it's not really worth the money imo.
UVI used to be Kontakt for rich people who don't need cracks, I'd really love to try them out.
