i can't quite figure this out.
i have a reverb send and i want to send it only to take fx on clips i choose.
so i can use send the same way as i do in the mixer?..

  3. Why not? Send anything you have on a track to an effect. Assign a clip to a specific track if you want.

Maybe you need to rephrase your question if this is out of the ballpark.

Yep it's like @superliquidsunshine said. Assign a specific track where you put all the clips you want to send, or automate the send levls on the different tracks you have the clips so that they are sent appropriately (which would be annoying, the first way is probably the most efficient).
I think only Samplitude can do send from any objects to any auxes independantly from the tracks sends. Even reaper can get beaten on some features sometimes . Maybe a request you could make on reaper forums ?

If you're using Reaper, the easiest way is just to put different takes on different tracks with different send levels. The more complicated way is to automate the send levels of different takes.

    First, mates, we're here Home Forums > Software > DAW > Reaper.

Second, I guess you have a track with a reverb inserted and that's a reverb return, not send.

Third, you want to sent different parts to that reverb, no matter where these parts are? Afaik that's not possible, even not in Reaper. You can apply fx to a part, no problem, but just as an insert. Item (parts) properties have no send and routing matrix shows no item (parts).
So, as the others suggested, move all those parts to one track and use track send. But you won't have an individual send level per item (part) this way either.

    that's a bit rubbish. i can't believe it's not possible.
to the reply about Samplitude, that's why i was looking for that capability in Reaper.
i was assuming that the take fx in reaper would be like the ones on objects in SAM ertc..
as has been said, not even reaper has everything.
a bit disappointing but at least i can stop looking for a solution...
i am beginning to float away from reaper to sam again.
i was using Studio One but there is something seriously wrong with memory useage which again i couldn't resolve.
what a giidy whirl all this DAW malarkey..
thanks for advice and info though...

This is (a bit) rude. We have all tried to help you and answer your question to the best of our knowledge. That doesn't mean we know everything, but it isn't rubbish either.

I don't get it what's so hard about automating send levels for different takes. It's a standard procedure, like automating volume.

Put it to 0 for the takes that don't need it and put it to whatever other value you like for the takes that do.

That way you save on the number of tracks. Having too many tracks can be daunting.

Specially when you have the possibility to make automation clips and save them. You create one for your "on/off" send, copy paste it anywhere you need to make sends...Done.

I don't think that's a big problem either, but if I got him right he just wanted to know if it is possible to use a fx send on parts/takes (item) in the same way as in tracks/channels.

Yeah. It's something you can accomplish using samplitude (object base daw), it's actually a very nice feature, not in reaper unfortunately...

I'd guess he was saying that it's a bit rubbish the software can't do what he wants rather than criticising the quality of the advice given.

i had absolutely no intention of being rude to anyone.
i was just muttering to myself.
and apologies if the question isn't clear, there's a lot i don't know and it can be hard to find an answer when you can't phrase the question.
thanks for the advice. i was only half joking about deserting SAM - humour, particularly sardonic type does not work on the internet. i will plough on.
for the record the peeps who mention SAM method is what i was searching for. it's not that i can't be bothered to do it the reaper way as suggested, it's just a feature in SAM i love and was looking to replicate it in reaper.

You can apply FX to specific clips by pressing shift-E

Not in my Reaper. Shift-E does nothing to audio items and opens inline Editor on MIDI items.

The question was how to use different aux send levels [one fx, like e.g. reverb in a different track used as aux fx] for the different clips/takes/objects on the same track. I think he knows how to use clip fx.

You got it right on the nose :)
there is a shortcut ( i had to look it up) for an action that will allow you to add FX to a specific clip. but this isn't using AUX fx. I may be misguided on this, but my hope was to be able to save some cpu time on bigger projects.
i can use automation instead but once you've used SAM's oh-so-sweet object editing..
like they say, once you've been to the city you can never go back home : )
happy sundays and thx for the advice.
