Would it be possible to use a reverb plugs as a cabinet impulse loader? I'm testing Reverberate LE to allow more editing. Does that makes any sense? Are there any other plugs that would do the same even better?

On principle every convoltution plugin can use any sort of samples, be it of reverb, amp or cabinet origin.
Some are called "reverb convolution plugin" because of the developers concentrating on this stuff and/or the available parameters.
And since SIR2 can import samples (in various formats) that should work fine.
So, for "normal" plugs better or not is mainly a question of personal taste not sound, but there are some convos doing special things like Altiverb or Slate Verbsuite. But for the last one I'm not sure if it's the processing or their special kind of samples.

At least as far as I know.
