USB Sound Card Resetting to Default Settings

I have an external USB sound card (M-Audio Duo) connected to my Windows system. Unfortunately, the settings for this sound card keep reverting back to their default values every time I close the Control Panel tab or exit the M-Audio software. This includes both input and output settings. I even tried adjusting the settings while in Safe Mode, but the issue persists. I'm aware that the card is trashy but it's just a momentary backup. Nonetheless, doing all the changes everytime it's annoying and time consuming.

OS: Windows 10 Pro N 22H2. Main DAW: Studio One.

If anyone has come across a similar situation, I would greatly appreciate any insights or advice you can offer. Is there a way to establish a default configuration that prevents these settings from constantly resetting?

make sure USB Selective Suspend is disabled - in both Windows Power Settings, and in advanced properties of M-Audio interface in Windows Device Manager,
also uncheck Exclusive Access in advanced Windows Sound Settings of the M-Audio interface

done and done... they still reset to 32/48000 by the time I close and reopen the Windows Sound Settings...
i noticed however (if it could be of any help) that the setting from the webcam mic doesnt revert back...

hmm weird, maybe some other app or background process interferes with it? can be something basic like Windows Sounds, Spotify app whatever...

To me it sounds like your Windows sound setting is different from the audio interface settings. All sound settings in Windows audio (realtek and so on) should be the same as the audio interface. If you use 48KHz in Windows you should also use that on audio interface. Same with bit. Does M-Audio Duo even support 32 bit? I don't think so. So set bit to 16 on both audio interface and all other Windows audio devices.

Also in manual it says: "Uncheck both boxes under Exclusive Mode."

yep... absolutely not a 32bit interface and that's what i have to deal with... the settings always revert back to 32/48000 even if I set them to the proper ones...

EDIT: i seen the screens now... i know how to set it up, problem is that the moment i click apply/ok and go back to these settings they are back to 32/48000 no matter what i do...

maybe it's corrupted driver not being able to communicate settings change with device (so it remains stuck at device's default) ?

What you can do is to uninstall the M-Audio Duo driver and install Asio4all and test that instead. I have read that M-Audio Duo has not updated it's drivers in years (02-02-2021 version 1.0.3). It's a high probability that a new Windows update has "broken" the driver. You should also update to the newest Windows if you have an older version.

Just a shot in the dark: The interface must keep its settings somewhere. Maybe there's a config file in the folder of the settings app (right click on it, show location) or maybe its in the registry (Windows key + R, regedit, look for M-Audio for example). If there is a config file, you could set it to the desired values and then put write protection on it.
