  1. For a grand, I'll throw in a bottle of baby oil and you can rub those puppies all day.

  2. What's the topic here again? Thunderbolt? I thought we were discussing boobies.

We can combine the two topics for double the fun and double the trouble.

No problem man. You only need a USB-C to whatever hub hanging of your cell.

I still remember the first big USB-C fail and it was a MacBook Air, let alone an smartphone.
I'm still laughing with this parody:

Indeed. Isn't it sooo wonderful when you fork out for a laptop with USB-C thinking it's TB2/3 compatible, only to find out it doesn't have the Intel chip in the USB-C path, so it's not?[!] Happened to my client, but on *my* recommendation. :( Dell buried that fact so deep in their manual that even I couldn't find it, so we found out the hard way. Now he can't connect his Apollo TB2 interface to this new laptop. Fucking greedy Intel and fucking deceiving computer companies. Only the priciest Dell XPS models include the Intel TB chip.

So watch out if you have a TB audio interface and a laptop with USB-C. It needs to have the Intel TB chip to work with TB devices.

    I've heard a rumor.
Thunderbolt support for USB4 is optional.
This means that manufacturers have the right not to provide TB4 support for their motherboards USB4 ports or usb cables. I have a hunch that even in the USB4 era, you will still need to purchase additional Thunderbolt PCI-E cards and expensive Thunderbolt cables.

Thanks for the info. I was looking to build a desktop. Is the latency as good as it's claimed to be?

This is certainly embarrassing, even if it is not your fault but Dell's who has intentionally buried it deep in the documentation to hide the deficient implementation.

You know this is always the case. especially with mac. Look at the history. SCSI drives the tech lasted 2 to 8 years. Then died. Companies are always coming out the great new stuff charging an arm and a leg for them then they the technology dies and you are left hanging.
I with they would expanded on it or at least keep using expansion cards so you could move it to a new PC.

    So true.
And it is usually an extremely expensive experience to make.
SCSI cables, hard drives, housings, scanners have never really worked perfectly on my PC. On my Mac they worked perfectly, but they were also a third more expensive.
Recently, I got rid of a real harness of SCSI cables, knowing that some of these cables cost > $100 (was it in the 90ies?). That really hurt, but the stock had to be downsized...urgently :dunno:

  17. I have close to a cubic metre (slight exaggeration) of assorted unused cables all in one single knot. Once a year I decide to untangle them and decide what to keep and what to get rid of. It's a museum of strange and exotic cables, some that are so old it would require carbon dating to identify the era from which they came. So I wind them up carefully and keep them for "just in case" Now, the inexplicable thing that happens while I'm not looking is the tidy state I left them in becomes unravelled over time and I'm left once more with a tangled mess of assorted cables. Are there tiny cable pixies who like to tie cables in knots at night?

My friend in Devon, UK, makes those. Looks like one of hers. She's been doing it for at least 15 years.
