    Hi guys,
a quick question, I need to buy a new 2nd hand soundcard.
The Digi 003 Rack would it work with Ableton Live 9 under El Capitan ? I can't find a real info on the www about it. I've heard many things about Digi stuff, their proprietary politics and in same time, have been opened since awhile … If I can say.

Thanx for your great input mates!

It will work fine but it is Firewire and if your going to buy something just get a small USB 3.0 interface. Focusrite, Prosonus, or even the Behringer's with the Midas pre's and then you wont have to get rid in the future. New Macs coming out will not be having Firewire. It will be USB 3 and Thunderbolt. How many ins and outs do you need?
This would be better then the 003. I had a 002, 003 and there Asio drivers suck ass.
Hope this helps you a bit.

@richardstarkey : thanx mate for your feedbacks. I need at least, 8 in /out .
Iv'e got an Imac with thunderbolt but maybe I could use the thunserbolt > FW adapter plug without prob …?
My macbookpro got both too, but it's for the Imac. 'Cause my laptop will be used to only process audio from ableton inside my imac to ableton inside my laptop for fx (reverb, delays, complex modulation delay based effect and so on).
I've read that the Focuserite are great too, specially the Scarlett 18i20.

I have an MBox 3 Pro and it works with everything in El Capitan, as it runs on a CoreAudio driver, probably the same as your Digi 003. Not sure if Thunderbolt-to-FW is supported (the only interfaces I've ever seen that advertise this as a selling point are from Focusrite), but you could definitely give it a shot. I'm running mine on a FW 800-to-400 adapter and it's rock-solid. Also, the mixer interface, again, probably like the one your Digi 003's driver software uses, is phenomenal. Too bad Avid decided to ditch their own prosumer interfaces, except for the S3, which is pretty damn pricey for a four-input interface/control surface with no pre-amps, and just co-opt Apogee's interfaces.

Seems very complex? What are the benefits?

fw thundrbolt work well together no problem.
    you dont need usb3
    digi should be fine
not a fan of presonus gear

indeed that seems convoluted setup, maybe bussing and send automations could lift some of the processing
second pc just for fx, most use it for more instruments
i like to hear what you are doing ;)

Well, my iMac is running the main DAW (Ableton Live) I'm using busses to send to fx busses which their own output goes to my other soundcard inputs. These inputs are just 2 monos or 1 stereo, it's an Apogee Duet (1st version). Which is a pain when I need to process several tracks with more than 1 or to 2 fx busses... Indeed, here I 'm working on having a 2nd pc to play some instruments obviously but also to feed inside it, some tracks to process them with fx busses (which some are a bit complex, and most of them quiet heavy on CPU, sometimes). That's why I'm also looking for a soundcard with more than two in/out. Hope it's clear enough ;-)

    I use a digi 002r on Mac. I don't see why a 003 wouldn't work.
