5 times today, after clicking a link on Uploaded.net
a new tab (page) opens to this link(see below) which is ranked #8 virus this week.
The page looks like a plugin install/update.
    Pretty pathetic.

1: Did you inform Uploaded about this, they may not be aware that the advert they are showing is doing this?

2: I never see any of this sort of bad webpage. If you aren't already, use some ad blocking and javascript blocking software in your browser.

3: Dump java and flash if you have them on your machine, they are both toxic.

4:Do all your access to the web inside a virtual machine, something like Virtualbox will save you from just about anything.

    Nothing :)

I haven't had anything that used java for years and now that youtube uses html5 video for everything i dont miss flash at all. I do have a VM set up that does still have flash on it that i used for websites that insist on using flash but i dont think i've used it in months.

If you are a Firefox user install WOT, so joining a network of users which helps the net to stop threats like that.

I have this for a considerable time now, but I can close the tab before it is fully loaded. If I permit this page to load I get a nice sounding lady talking to me in Dutch saying that my computer is compromised and that my creditcard details are at risk. I am friendly advised to dial a phone number to get assistance to remove this treat. When I call this number I get another friendly English speaking lady who represents herself as being a Microsoft representative who offers to help me to take care of this coming disaster....

I then state that I am already aware of all the uglyness and internet criminality and that I am fully capable to handle it myself. I thank her for all her concerns with my financial wellbeing and end the conversation.

Oooh I love this Nigerian accent she has so next time I will try to set up a date.

And yes, I already did report it with uploaded. Nitroflare also has a habit of unwanted new tabs opening. It is way worse.

Adding WOT is not an option since I have a premium account with Uploaded.net.

just disallow your browser to download things automatic. you have to protect your browser, its your responsibility.
as plus deactivate flash and javascript. this makes it not possible to install anything without your own interaction on your browser.

that method is know for years.

I had this happen to me about 4 times yesterday.. I use Chrome. The only way to close the page was to enter the Windows task manager and completely force shut down Chrome....

addendum, for firefox users you can use the flashblock add-on instead of disabling totally, so flash only runs when you choose
    ( press play )

I have not seen this issue thus far

No need for a new plug-in.
Just set flash itself to ask before running

Here is the reaction from Uploaded.net as I have informed them about this issue:

    Dear customer,

    thank you for your request.

We would like to inform you that either a pop-up blocker, an antivirus program or a firewall with browser protection, may block certain contents on our homepage.

Hence we're asking you to either deactivate browser protection or the pop-up blocker in your browser.

Try using an external download manager. We know of jDownloader (http://jdownloader.org) and Firefox plugin DownThemAll!, as functioning download manager. Unfortunately we do not provide support for external download manager.

    Thank you for your understanding!

    Yours sincerely,

Use a download client. If you opt for JDownloader, use this version, which carries no adware.

i use NoScript-Addon for Firefox, and even a popup occurs the scripts on that site don't. I recommend it for everyone. So u can decide which scripts u allopw to run or not manually.
