You know, I could understand the need for far field monitors.
I produced my first album half a year ago now and was pretty confident, but when I first heard it on a friend's tannoy system 215 I could start mixing all over again. They tore my mix apart, figurally speaking.
But a second pair of near or mid field monitors if you already have those Dynaudios?
Waste of money.

 

Here are some ideas
Get your room treated by a professional
Get wave lab and a high end metering application
Get some super high end monitors
Get get some nice d/a converters
If there is any cash left spend it on out board mastering gear like a mastering lining phase eq

 

Simple idea. Take the money and go get education in one of the universities of the United States. No amount of gear will ever get you the amount of experience you will have once you graduate and get a degree. After you graduate, you won't even ask those questions.

 

Name a single piece of studio equipment that has kept its original market value over more than 3 decades. Apart from a few legendary stuff like the Fairchilds, most hardware actually depreciates and requires maintenance which equals depreciation. And no, you cannot resell close enough to original market value, especially with all the clones and competition in the high end studio gear market.

So, what to do? ANSWER: BUY USED!!! Then it's a whole different story. Especially when you get the bargain.
