My Macbook is not supported when it comes to upgrading to Ventura but I know it can be done anyway. Now wondering if anyone here has done it and if it works as well with all types of Audio as it does with Monterey?

I did this in the past. People here have done it, I've seen threads in which it was mentioned. I've read that after upgrading unsupported machines, it works except when they install Ventura-only software. And that's probably why you want to update to Ventura in the first place. Like, Logic 10.8+ requires Ventura or higher. It seems to work for some, although it's not 100% reliable.

Only Sonoma is higher, that's straight up crazy, those systems are barely two years old, Apple is going crazy with this crap! :dunno:

Yeah, as you say, it's Logic 10.8+ that I want to upgrade to. Maybe I try it some day but Monterey working fine with my audio related stuff so no need to upgrade then.

you need to get the OpenCore patcher and you will be able to update to whatever you want. You have to keep in mind the physical differences like security chip, etc.

    https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/SONOMA-DROP.html

The list of models that can use OpenCore Legacy Patcher 1.0.0 to run macOS Sonoma includes:

    • 2008 to 2019 12-inch and 13-inch MacBooks
    • 2009 to 2017 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air
    • 2008 to 2017 13-inch to 17-inch MacBook Pro
    • 2009 to 2017 Mac mini
    • 2007 to 2018 20-inch to 27-inch iMac
    • 2008 to 2018 Mac Pro
    • 2008 to 2010 Xserve.

Some time ago I thought about it and started studying the Open Core Patcher website. In the end I didn't even try the procedure: too complex and with the risk of having an inconsistent OS. This trick jeopardizes the stability of the OS (Apple's strong point) In the end, it's more or less the same as having a hackintosh: no thanks, at this point it's better to buy a PC

Not really. A big reason MacOS is able to be as good as it is, is it is created for so few models of machines and their optional configurations. Windows has always been made for whatever great or junk parts thrown at it randomly. Uniformity in target machines goes way further than you may think, because it allows for much more focused testing during development.

I see no reason to update an Intel to newest MacOS versions, because almost all the improvements and optimizations they are doing are related to Apple Silicon. There's no reason to play the update game.

    Exactly.
And that is the reason why Apple no longer supports old computers: This would widen the range of hardware combinations to be kept compatible.
As a consequence, bending the OS using a patcher to run an old Mac with it should be refrained from, because the OS will then run outside its specifications.
