while i hope thats true, the customer support on page 7 says
"I am telling you it's not a simple matter of rolling back due to the way things work together with UADx, UAC, and the auth system."
maybe they still dont fully know i guess?

 

Actually, Drew was referring to the problem of pulling back deposited iLok licenses, 2 new UADx plugins, issued licenses for DSP version owners and rolling back whole auth system.
I can relate it would be great headache to do it (if it's even possible) so they choose to go another route.

That sucks you've not been getting far with UA - this whole episode feels so weird, cos tbh any time I've contacted them for support over the years, they've been super responsive, friendly and helpful. Hope they sort this out soon, so folks can get back to work!

(Gotta say though, it's SO GOOD to finally have resizeable GUI's! I'm really, really hoping they'll eventually shift all the DSP plugs to vst3 too, so we can finally stop squinting lol)

 

Just as an aside with UAD, last week they fired David Bock who was their lead, and is really looked up to, for microphone development. This is shortly before they're releasing mic's with Bock's name on them! So they're going to tell you to buy a microphone designed by a guy who was just fired! The people running UAD are clearly not very with it.

Sorry, but I deeply dislike this company.

That said: true, after last update something changed, but I am not experiencing big troubles, I only cant uninstall that UA connect app (iLok) after updating the plugins. Back then, after installing an update I got rid of the app, now I have to keep it to make the plugins work

I have all plugins included in Spark (except the instruments) because I own them from the DSP system, which I use actually

Open task manager and check the cpu usage there. I thought exactly the same thing as you - my Cubase meter also looked fine, so I assumed there was no issue, but then:

And they were right!

Thankfully, like yourself I primarily use the DSP versions, so this whole issue isn’t really a big deal for my workflow, but yeah, the Cubase meter isn’t telling the full story in this case.

 

I can open many instances, dozens and dozens of UADx on Ableton 11, and I'm less than 7% on CPU. But if you open the resource monitor we are over 91%, with peaks of 107%.

 

I have no doubt you have this issue, but: Cubase dont show the high CPU usage, but does it work according to your system's potential? Thats what matters

Guys, be sure: I "feel" my system, I would understand if there's such a big issue, I use spark plugins extensively since the first day

I have many problems with Cubase 12, but not with sparks plugs in this period

Anyhow I am following, and can do more tests if you want. I will have a deeper look on UAD forum, I dont go there so often because I usually receive fast and good support. I am not a UAD fan, I have MANY MANY things I would tell em.

if someone have working version by any chance the update didn't go through and overwriting the vst3 build, it would be the only way to preserve working condition for the native version of uad for pc user .

 

I can't wait till a Team Cracks them .. never been a fan of UA ..

I'm not a spark user but I did briefly have one of the newer volt interfaces with the compressor. I noticed that there was a significantly loud white noise every time the compressor was engaged - loud enough that it made it unuseable for any quiet passages (or voiceover work) or stacking tracks with it. I wrote UAD about this, assuming it was a faulty unit, and their response was essentially, "yeah, that's the way it is. have fun". Returned it the next day.

 

It becomes clear why they did not release the version for PC a very long time.
At first they answered that they were afraid of cracking on PC. )
But commerce won.

 

Gyorgy (amazing nickname), my sessions are very busy, with a mix of spark and dsp versions. Thanks to Spark, I can now use 3 Thermionic and 3 AMS chorus and reverb, leaving the Neve preamp to x plugins. Everything goes as usual, hard operation for my computer but I can work it out.

oh well, the plugins are up to date, the new resizing funcion is the proof, and also the new Oxide add. Nah, this is not the right way.

This company has too much in common with apple and pro tools.
Their plugins sound DAMN good. You have to give them that.
But the hoops they make you jump through, what they charge, the fact that they "support" windows but not really. They just leave a bad taste in my mouth.

 

I wanted to put a smile icon there first, but it's really not funny anymore.
Just because of such answers one should not buy anything from such a company.
Support is a duty, not a magnanimity!
For some of us, the functioning of their PC and the software is vital.
