Unison preamps have better signal-to-noise ratio when preamp emulations are instantiated

Has anyone else noticed this as well? When using the stock Unison preamp a noticeable white-noise becomes audible at around 50dB of gain, but when a preamp emulation is instantiated the signal can be boosted much further without any noticable noise floor. Is this due to the change in impedance? One would think that the stock setting would be the least noisy. What are your thoughts?
