Since I have no idea what Ultrabeat does exactly I had to search around, Fxpansion's Geist seems to be a close match of Ultrabeat, still not sure.

ultrabeat is a sampler for 23 samples and one additional which you can play over an octave (bass instrument for excample) It has per slot a noise generator, 2 oscillators, one of them also for samples, 4 envelopes, 2 band eq and a bit more. it also has an integrated sequencer.

It does only work in Logic which is an apple product.

If Geist seems too big or a bit too complicated, you could also check out Toontrack's BeatStation.
At first sight, it may look like a toy but it has a nice and intuitive workflow. One power feature is the ability to drag REX slices onto pads, including velocity layers.

Depending on what you want to do with it, Image Line's Groove Machine has a pretty good workflow too, a bit like Korg's Electribes.
GrooveMachine can run completely standalone, while you use BeatStation in your DAW because it has no built-in sequencer.

If you like it simple, Poise might be another option. If you're more into physical drum modelling, try ImageLine Drumaxx, which sounds best of the bunch IMHO.

I have the Fxpansion Geist on my logic and i can say its just a great beat box you can do what you want with audio sample plus you can slices any loop for rework or sync to the original beat .

To work easier with Geist you have juste to see all tutorial and Quick Tip video and let's go  ,

Is any copy of Fxpansion Geist around for Macs?
Kind of long term wish-list. I've looked for it and never found anything :dunno:
