Uk Steppers bass

    Hi guys! I've been trying my hands on the more "modern" sound of uk steppers and dub, for the last few months. One thing I can't seem to wrap my head around is the bass sound, especially the style of mid-bass as heard in these tunes.

    Hi, nice thread!
    I do something like this: Take native or synthetic bass, cutoff on 30 and somtn around 150-500hz, depends on the bass, boost it a little on around 40hz and somtn around 60-90hz.
    Add some heavy tube compression, saturation, little reverb.
    The rest is fun, play around with distortion effects and quite big hall rooms. Try compress again.
    If you work with synth, try making a layer 1 octave higher, mix it seperately and then layer both(the higher track just a tiny bit) and compress/saturate them together.
