If you bought and use Ueberschall and the libraries that come with it.

What do you like about it over Kontakt or what do you love about your copy in general?

I've been checking out the demos they put out and have been loving them but the interface looks so confusing.

Do you mean Elastik? I've never installed it either, so I'd like to see an actual users comments. there were a few packs that looked interesting in that format.

I had the version from sister site installed, but I delete it just 2 days ago cause I didn't use it. But I use to made some stuff with the older version (like 10 years ago).
I don't see it as a Kontakt replacement, cause it's very different, it's more like stuff like Arcade or Loopmaster plugin (I forget the name). It's basically a sample pack with its own interface. It's nice to use, specially the last version, it gave good flexibility to change the key, chop the sample (but for that I prefer using the DAW build in function).

I first installed it cause they had some great sample packs that you didn't find anywhere else (their Balkan sample pack was a big source of sample 10 years ago). They still do great pack but you can find more stuff on wav format now and I prefer it that way. Their interface is great but a bit heavy, it was a great thing 10 years ago, but now, even with the improvment in the last Elastik version (v3 I think), we got other better alternative.

And to compare it with Kontakt, it's a really different stuff, I don't think I'll delete this one even though its way bigger, but Kontakt is more on the virtual instrument side of sampler (even though you can use it as a sampler, it's not the best to deal with loops)

Yes! I know that comes free but the libraries don't. They have what looks like a loop wheel with different tabs surrounding the circle and it just looked rather confusing to me. I wanted to know what everyone else thinks about it since I have no idea.

Yeah that's what interests me on top of the library pack demos which sound very good if I'm honest. It's laid out very different than Kontakt which threw me off at first since I've never seen a UI like that before so I have no frame of reference for what it's like using it.

That's good to know, so if you use your daw to chop then I'm guessing you can easily drag and drop the samples in and out of your arrangement window? That would be cool if true.

Well they keep putting out packs which has me interested. I've known about it but never knew what it was about since I don't see anyone mention it that much even though it sounds pretty good judging from demos.

I guess I never expect anything to kill Kontakt except of course Kontakt killing itself. But the libraries did seem different as you say.

    @Donut Nyamer says:
"I've been checking out the demos they put out and have been loving them but the interface looks so confusing."

    Ueberschall says:
"With its intuitive Loopeye editing environment..."

IMO Donut's experience FTW on that, and Kontakt is more "normal" to me (although I don't do much in-depth and stick mostly with the library's interface controls).

But, being a little confused can sometimes lead to creative results...so really i would say it depends on what you want.
Fast and efficient because you know what you want to create?
    or
A little confusing and more time-consuming because you want to create something new?(at least to you)

close enough that we at least mean the same thing. but it is literally 2x the space of Kontakt, and not as developed. just to have a closed file format...is there a convertor?

I tried it for a while and had some stuff sketched out using it, but the fact that i did not save those projects , (even as templates for later) tells me I did not like it that much :grooves:

100% true and could be it which is why I ask if anyone had experience with it and how they liked it or not since I actually never even seen anyone on reddit talk about it yet let alone here but it's peaked my interest. Happy accidents ist krieg though, its true.

    Agreed.

Years ago I installed it and learned how to use it. It's not as intuitive as they say, but once learned it's practical.
I found it more useful to use for loops than for samples, if you want to compare with another plug-in it would be with Spectrasonics Stylus RMX.
But at the end I only used it to study some of the arrangements in genres I didn't know well.
    Never made music with it.

I'm not sure about that, and I can't test anymore, but from what I remember it wasn't possible. You can still resample like normal audio, but that's not the most conveniant way to use it.

Their banks are great, I still listen the demos and secretly hope someone will find a way to extract the audio and upload it as a normal soundbank, but now we got lot of other option so I prefer not using Elastik anymore. But if you can find a way to incorporate the plugin in your workflow, that's a great sound world you got, with lot of possibility to make the loop sounds like you.

The best is to try, that's why it's great to have full version of those kind of stuff, so you can try with (almost) all soundbanks, and then support the developer by buying the one that fit into your workflow (or the one that end up in your final product, that's usually my philosophie with soundbanks)

If you have elastik installed and the libraries there is a way to render in wav format right from the app.

I wouldn't say I like it more than kontakt. It is unique and I have used elastik quite a bit. It is very useful if you have a handle on some of the options. It's like anything. If you are inventive, and decent at editing you can find a lot that is useful. You have to have an ear for what COULD work. I have tons of finished tracks that have parts developed from elastik. As a producer you have to have some foresight as to what COULD work in any given scenario. I can usually tell if something will fit against any idea. I trigger a part with MIDI from the DAW and then render it as audio, and from there I can edit it to fit exactly. I am usually looking for something that is close. THAT is true no matter what I am using as a resource. I have studied the options on elastik and there is a good amount on there I find useful. Their sound is usually very good. That makes it worth it to me.

This is kind of a silly thing to say since some of the kontakt libraries are over a hundred gigs, just for one library. I have never seen an elastik library that even comes close to that. 2x the space of kontakt seems misguided to me. I have found it to be just the opposite of what you've said here. Really?

I tested this one in 2013 and was very pleased with the sound quality! I found a few files from 2013.

    5th October 2004 - BPM 120 Beat & Percussion Module released

Ueberschall has released BPM 120 - Beat & Percussion Module, featuring a 2.4 GB Drum and Percussion library paired with their innovative ULP engine.

BPM 120 provides a large stylistic bandwidth of authentic drum and percussion styles: from Funk, House, Soul, Disco, Pop, Rock, Beat, DnB, 2Step, BigBeat through Electro, Metal, Real Drums, Breakbeat, Analog Drums, Vinyl Loops up to Latin-, African- and World Percussion. The acoustic and electronic drum and percussion loops were played live or programmed, depending on the style, by professional studio musicians.
Quick creation of variations and high levels of adaptability and combination of these loops are made possible, simply and at high quality, thanks to the ULP engine: The circular waveform presentation (Loopeye) sensibly visualizes the transition of loop start and end. In combination with the slidable start and end markers on the outer ring, new variations can be created in just seconds. Loops no longer have fixed start and end points. By combining single segments of different drum loops you can create innumerable variations.

All loops are presented at the basic tempo of 120 BPM. Thanks to the MPEX2 algorithms from Prosoniq (Timefactory), the loops can be adapted to your own songs. The sounds remain crystal clear and don't possess any of the usual grain artifacts. Tempo changes are possible in the range of +-60 BPM (60-240 BPM) at high quality.

The sounds can be optimally matched in frequency through the filter section, directly integrated in the Plug-in (up to 72 dB filter).
To ensure the greatest flexibility, hihat/cymbal and bass drum/snare/toms loop versions are also presented separately. By combining the different loops countless variants can be created. As bonus material, BPM 120 contains complete single drum samples which were used in the drum and percussion loops. With them the existing loops can be further varied.

BPM120 is available as VST, AU and RTAS plug-ins for Windows and Mac OS 9/X and cost $199.95 USD / 199 EUR.

    Contains:

    - 2325 Drum Loops.
    - 518 Percussion Loops.
    - 1585 Drum single sounds.
    - 473 Percussion single sounds.

That's what put me off, it doesn't look very intuitive at all. I was actually sort of confused tbh.

I wish they would allow them to be converted quicker than bouncing down the clips to audio. The demos do sound phenomenal.
