Bro, you do realize he's like super-trolling on this thread for days? Just ignore him - I'm sure you too have better things in life to do :winker:

    dB ≠ Ohm
Yeah, but there are a lot of people that confuse these things. I don't post here much exactly for these reasons.

Guys, the thread is about UAD going native.
    Not about UAD's audio interfaces.

They'll probably use a protection scheme similar to Pro Tools, which R2R hasn't fully cracked yet, and now with more protection probably won't, don't get me wrong, I'd love to see cracked UAD plugs pop up, but I don't see it happening, at least not in the foreseeable future.....IMHO

You own those because they come free with any Apollo, not because you bought them

You don't get Massenburg with the subscription..it only has 9 plugins.. and I doubt that one will be included since there already is a native version of it.

I too would like to hear a comparison with a signal recorded through the unison tech and then normal with the plugin inserted in the daw. My money would be on no (or negletable) difference at all. Impedance shouldnt make a noticable difference on regular ldc mics (on ribbons and dynamics it might be) as long as it is 5-10 times higher then the mic output. all recent audio interfaces and preamps should be falling into that category. Line input is different.

There are also preamps with adjustable impedance i.e. isa one) and discussions gearspace if there are any difference in sound when switching them and consense seems to be not if you dont use extreme settings or dynamics/ribbons..
So i doubt unison vs. Preamp plugin insert sound so much different if at all.

The other arguments like "modelled gainstaging sweet spot" seem to be just marketing foolery.
So if anybody owns an apollo why not make that comparison with recording one take with unison tech and then regular (with standard impedance) plus the preamp plugin as an insert?

You could do this by playing some vocals through a speaker leaving the mic at the exact position. That way you can record two identical takes.

It's been done. It doesn't null.
It's not night and day, but it's non-negligible.
FWIW there is a null test on YouTube that should be easy enough to find.
I won't link to it because it's done by someone naysayers would accuse of being a UAD shill, fanboy, affiliate, etc...
All the trolls, haters, etc would dismiss it or argue against it because it doesn't fit their narrative.
I've tested it myself using a 1kHz sine wave, pink noise, and a reference track.
I won't go through the trouble of making videos, uploading sample files or anything else to help those that aren't actually looking for help.
As I stated before, whether it's enough of a difference to justify using it is entirely up to you.
If it really matters that much, do your own research and experimentation.

Maybe someone should start another thread about Unison so this one might stand a chance of staying on topic.

While putting all these Unison-related irrelevant posts aside, I just wanted to say that recent Plugin Alliance move(s) are going to kill newly-introduced SPARK by UA.

I'm not sure how Universal Audio will make their next moves, but I am sure that this "subscription" war will benefit end users. For the first time - we, the customers - can yell "hell no! I can get get much better deal over at your competition" and they will listen. Prices must drop. Freebies will come in order to attract new buyers.

Oh, these will be exciting times! :guru:

I wish, as long as we have conspicuous consumption social media posters nothing will change lol
PA free bundle was just a punch in the nuts for UA. A very well deserved punch, granted.

Mh. We don't know what their contract looks like and it would be a good move if UAD wants to burn bridges, well they maybe do because they seem to be desperate and need to make a profit.

Same thing will happen to Kemper and such "hardware closed" systems.
Because sells are already going down ... and not only in this domain.
