No! This is the Legacy Plugin that came out with the Original UAD DSP Cards back in the Days. At a very later Point UA released a 1176 and a LA2A Collection with the Emulation of 3 different Hardware Revisions. The Legacy Plugins were still available for the Owners. So nothing striped down here, it's just the very first Plugin that UA released of a 1176 emulation and always had been a good tool, in case you need it ;)

 

When I click on "Download Now" it doesn't download. What a bunch of bullshit.

This is the Rev E Mk II version with harmonics, UA have verified this. It's the same as the hardware version without the expanded controls. I tested it with PI Dr against Softube FET II, they match very closely in measurement and sound, which is rare. Not usually a fan of their compressors but this reminds me of the vintage Blackfaces I had.

 

No it's not, it's a cut down MKII version.

 

It deposits the licence to your UA account. All downloads/installs are handled by UA COnnect, as every other UA plugin.

it does not "try to download" anything, Karen. That statement can have a very specific meaning when it comes to software. It requires you to download and install software other than the plugin. "Tries to download" is usually reserved for what malware, spyware, and virii do.

It's the same thing as Native Instruments, Arturia, Softube, IK Multimedia, and others do with their "manager app".

. UAD has a default install path cannot be changed, so Ableton Live can acces VST3 plugins but no VST2 in custom folder
. Does not support symlink
. Error in FL Studio and Ableton Live about "sample content" (?)

User friendly is a joke at UAD HQ!
