After having refunded my UAD Studio Edition Bundle (just too expensive to keep), now UA have an enticing sale...even more so again.

Producer Edition with 22 plugins for $74, or almost $3 per plugin. Just as I wanted to buy a Rhodes, an organ emulation and also a piano, this happens...

Now, I don't like iLok Cloud or dongle, but this? This might just tip me over. Too good of a price. I don't have to spend $50 for a rhodes plugin.

My only problem is that if I ever will want more plugins, I'll have to pay full price or keep constantly asking the support to get some kind of voucher, both variants are not ideal. But then again, I could never spend 200 for Signature, while not being able to ever sell my plugins second hand. That's just too crazy for me.

What are your opinions? Would you buy the Producer Edition?

Even more so...with PA, you used to get a plugin for 15-20$, here they are $3 each... I guess they really just want to be the plugin manufacturer for native stuff.

I do wish they finally made machine-based authorisation an option.

 

Got a number of those plug-ins free when I got a Volt 2 interface.

 

The only way I'll ever use UA stuff again is when R2R releases it. That's all.

 

Considering i've been spending money on UAD plugins for over a year now...no. There's nothing in this bundle that i use regularly or that i would say it's enough to make the bundle worth it. Most of it is kinda average once you get past the hype tbh.

Although, if you don't have any alternative plugins to these, it's a pretty good deal.

 

Studer is available as native, as is Oxide. Ampex ATR 102 hasn't been ported yet.

 

The studio edition is well worth the money at the current price.

 

its worse than ilok, its ilok cloud with some proprietary shenannigans added on top that requires you restart your daw if you sleep your laptop to be able to use your plugins.

 

Oh well, after reading some more about the protection, I probably won't buy UA for now. I really just wanted the instruments to be honest.

If someone has a keyboard collection plugin (or kontakt libraries) which have a grand, upright, rhodes, etc., please shoot me a dm. I can spend up to $65. Please no Addictive Keys lol, it's not "real" enough for me.

I'm thinking about buying the Essentials Collection Native.
I haven't had a UAD yet.

For me the Teletronix and Pultec Collection would be exciting as well the PolyMAX Synth.

I only produce electronic music (trance, hardstyle, techno etc.)

Is it still an advantage to have UAD in terms of sound quality these days?

For my genre I would also like to mention the latest PA Mega Bundle on the sister site, which would certainly be more than sufficient for my genre.

I also read that you are not enthusiastic about the ILOK Cloud. The PC must be online.
What other disadvantages does this copy protection have? Espionage?

I think that the UAConnect is more disturbing than iLok. I have a few UA plugins that I don't use natively because I don't trust either. Both have crashed recently and they hold you hostage when that happens. If those plugins are part of every track and your sound then you don't know when they're going to allow you to make music again... No thanks. If it can't be authorized offline then I don't want it.

 

The best is to wait a little, I got their diamond bundle a while back then they've added all these new bundles far more interesting. With a bit of patience you'll get even more bang for your bucks. My strategy now is to use Spark to test fully what I really need and grab them during promos, I grabbed Soundcity (Amazing) for 28 bucks or so.

I recently got an Apollo interface and a bunch of plugins on Ebay. I've just added a bunch more in the UA sale. Been making some great near-zero latency vocal/guitar chains in the Apollo with Unison preamps and BX amps. Also now Luna has dropped for Windows it's been pulling me in to learning to track and mix better with the UAD plugs. The whole UAD ecosystem is really engaging me so i'm totally happy. I've got 48 Native UAD plugs on my Ilok and the rest tied to the Apollo. Not had any problems as yet, apart from getting Thunderbolt playing nice with Windows.
