    Hi Guys,

does anybody uses TrueCrypt to encrypt the DAW? Any experience in regards of performance degradation? Which encryption type do you use and how many bits?

    Thanks.

Usually encryption tools are used for sensible data.
I don't get the point to encrypt daw only (folder?).

However if speaking of MBR disks only, the original and possibly only trusted Truecrypt (7.1a) didn't require much resources even when the whole disk was encrypted, it should be negligible in performance loss.

if you're on Win11, just stick with BitLocker + TPM

why would you want to encrypt and waste power doing that?

TrueCrypt is deprecated, has security issues, and shouldn't be used anymore. If you need platform independence, VeraCrypt is considered a successor.
But what is a "DAW" in this case? These tools cannot encrypt applications, only filesystems and containers. You could create a container and install the DAW (software) inside of it, but this doesn't make any sense to me. :dunno:

(software) encryption (enabled by default in Windows 11) already degrades SSD performance by around 1/3, why the hell would you want to encrypt a DAW ??

How can I zip-compress my audio interface drivers? is an equally good question.

no, you dont want to encrypt your daw, i think you misunderstood the concept.. but if you did want to encrypt something you would use VeraCrypt instead of TrueCrypt.
