I know that Antares Autotune is able to transpose a vocal to the key you want. It takes the incomming note en changes it to the closest note in the chosen scale.

Is it also possible to take an instrument loop (from a sample pack) and convert it to a scale and key you want? Or is there too much distortion?

 

No. SInce it's polyphonic. Look into simple pitch transpose (if you want to stay in minor/major/whatever key it is in). Look into Melodyne if you want more advanced polyphonic editing.

 

Try using platinum notes, or mixed in key. That can change the key of the sample. FXpansion Geist and Celemony Melodyne should be able to do the rest. Doing it with Autotune is not possible like Vin said
But there are other ways of doing it.
