Thought it might be a nice idea to have a thread where we can show our favorite tracks, but especially the ones that make your jaw drop, you know the ones....

Those tracks that the first time you heard them made you think "HOW DID THEY DO THAT!!!"
Everybody has a few that inspired them to learn more/become obsessed with getting to that level where "wow!" is an understatement.

Be it old or new, the real deal tracks of genius are few and far between, brush off the old setlists and music collections and show us yours!

Here is a couple of my alltime favorites to get the ball rolling...

Oh do you mean musically or soundwise?

I guess both after listen to you videos altough not that difficult for a great bass player who can play slapstyle i guess.

And soundwise it sounded like a hornsection with a pitchshifter and a synth that can make 70ths spacemoviesounds

If it is musically many many tunes by Frank Zappa,Mahavishnu Orchestra,Shawn Lane and to name just a few jazzrock bands.

Rock = Dream Theaters old material And Rush did make me wonder HOW it is done? Nowadays when i have figure out many of their tunes and from watching dvd:s of liveperformance it´s not that hard anymore except for the speed of course.

Soundwise many african or eastern band:s has some strange sound from instruments homemade from whatever they get their hands of.

I saw an electric instrument it was just a peice of wood with only one!? string on it it sounded like something i never heard before he could raise and lower the pitch like a human beeing sounds when he/she sing oh aah etc very cool

But since i´m getting old now close to 50 i´m not that suprised anymore

Well yeh, both, and yes you are so right in that a great bass player could do that bassline for the most part, but its not a bassplayer.
Just really nicely programmed *there are parts of it that give the game away, on purpose no doubt*
No real horn section either, it's all synths and samples
The attention to detail on making the instruments articulated like real ones when they are'nt is the wow factor to me :break:

The swm track is still nuts after all these years, those are played instruments where you hear them though.
Kinda crazy jazz with a devilfish modded 303 over the top, still awesome though.

Anything from Timbaland b4 he switched his style up, circa from the beginning to about 2001.

Aaliyah's One In A Million was the start 4 me.
