I have got made some track presets for vocals which are .xml files. Where should I put them in Cubase 15 pro to appear and use?

Hi @Virendra Jaywant, perhaps the AI can help you:
To get your custom vocal track presets (.xml files) to appear and load properly in Cubase 15 Pro, follow these steps. I'll assume you're on Windows (the most common setup for Cubase users), but I'll include Mac notes too. The core issue with online methods not working is often that Cubase 15's preset browser has a more filtered interface than older versions—you need to explicitly enable the "Location tree" view and select "User Content" to see custom/user-created presets. They won't show up under factory presets by default.

Step 1: Locate the Correct Folder
Track presets are stored in Cubase's user data directory. Place your .xml files here (or in a subfolder for organization).

    • Windows: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Track Presets\ (Replace [YourUsername] with your actual Windows username. The AppData folder is hidden by default—enable "Hidden items" in File Explorer's View tab to see it. You can also paste %APPDATA%\Steinberg\Track Presets into the File Explorer address bar for a shortcut.)
    • Mac: /Users/[YourUsername]/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Track Presets/ (The Library folder is hidden—hold Option while clicking Go in Finder, or use Go > Go to Folder and paste the path.)
If you want to organize your vocal presets into their own category (recommended for easy access), create a new subfolder inside the Track Presets directory, e.g., Vocals. Copy your .xml files into that subfolder. Cubase will automatically recognize subfolders as categories in the browser.

Step 2: Verify and Import the Files
    • Ensure your .xml files are valid track preset exports (they should open in a text editor and contain XML tags like <TrackPreset>). If they're from an older Cubase version, they should still work, but test by creating a simple new preset in Cubase 15 to compare the format.
    • Copy the files into the folder above. No special import tool is needed—Cubase scans this directory automatically.
    • Restart Cubase 15 Pro after adding files. If they still don't appear, go to File > Preferences > MediaBay > Rescan (or just close/reopen the preset browser).
Step 3: Load the Presets in Cubase 15 Pro
Cubase 15's preset browser (introduced in recent versions) uses filters and a "Results" view that can hide user content. Here's how to access yours:

    1. Create or select an audio track (for vocals) in the Project window.
    2. In the Inspector (left panel), expand the Inserts section (or right-click the track header > Add Track from Preset).
    3. Click the preset dropdown (it might say "No Track Preset") or right-click the Inserts header > From Track Preset. This opens the preset browser.
    4. In the browser window:
      • Look for a Location tree button or icon (usually a folder icon in the toolbar or sidebar—click it to expand the tree view).
      • In the Location tree, expand User Content > Track Presets (and any subfolders like "Vocals" if you created one).
      • Your presets should now appear in the main Results list. If filters are applied (e.g., by type or tags), clear them by clicking the filter icon or selecting "All" to show everything.
    5. Double-click your preset to apply it. It will load the full track setup (inserts, routing, etc.).
If the browser flashes empty or loads slowly, try:

    • Disabling any active filters (e.g., "Factory Content" only).
    • Updating Cubase to the latest patch (via Steinberg Download Assistant—Cubase 15 has had some preset browser bugs fixed in early updates).
    • Resetting preferences: File > Preferences > General > Reset (but back up your Track Presets folder first!).
Troubleshooting If They Still Don't Show
    • Files not recognized: Open one .xml in Notepad/TextEdit and check for errors (e.g., missing closing tags). Recreate the preset directly in Cubase 15 if needed: Set up a vocal track, right-click the track header > Save Track Preset, name it, and save to your custom subfolder.
    • Version mismatch: If exported from Cubase 14 or earlier, they might need minor tweaks—Steinberg forums report this is rare but fixed by resaving in 15.
    • Permissions: Ensure the Track Presets folder isn't read-only (right-click > Properties on Windows).
    • Alternative access: Open MediaBay (F5 key), navigate to Presets > Track Presets > User Content, and drag presets directly onto tracks. This bypasses the Inspector browser.
This setup works reliably in Cubase 15 Pro based on official paths and user reports. If you're on Linux or have a specific error message, provide more details for tailored help!
