    So I have amassed quite a fortune of multi-sampled instruments over the years and I have honestly never bothered to learn how to use them. What is an easy way to use them? I never gave much thought too them but I figured that since multi samples only existed at usually at certain notes those were the only notes they could be played as =P. Is Kontakt a good way to do it?

    Also, I have a few older packs that exists as iso's of the MPC format. I would really like for them to be usable but honestly I have not a clue what to do with the iso files. Some guidance would be most appreciated.

    Thanks =)

    I think we have 2 general options to use multisamples:

    1.) Multiple samples for the same note, which gets switched by velocity etc..., (for example Drums lighthit hard hit)

    2.) Multiple Samples for notes, eg : C F# C' (Thast quite usefull for Sounds with have a detailed attack phase, etc... If you would just use one Sample if gets shorter and sound less natural when playing higher notes)

    Edit - ^^^ already answered.

    1) - MPC iso's: do you want to know about iso's or MPC format etc? If you want to read iso's get a virtual CD/DVD drive - eg PowerISO. Setup a virtual drive, mount the ISO, read the contents.

    I don't know about MPC format.

    2) Multi-sample libraries have several different samples per pitch - dependent on velocity? A high velocity could trigger a slide on a guitar instrument, say, whereas a lower velocity at the same pitch will trigger a regular pluck.

    Or do you mean multi-patch instruments? Where Kontakt has like five instruments open all at once, and you want to trigger and route them separately?

    I'm sorry if I called it the wrong the what I mean are the instruments that are included within sample packs that have a few different notes of the same instrument sampled at different pitches. I think they are called Multi-sample instruments but perhaps I am using the wrong terminology. I definitely don't mean multi-patch instruments though, thanks for trying to clarify =)

    I was under the impression that the old mpc format could be used within Kontakt.

    @huschiwuschi I totally get why it's important to have sampled instruments laid out like that. The decay can be affected or the sound quality might be degraded if played too high or low. I just never fucked with sampled instruments much other than sfz/soundfont files. I'm more or less of the vst generation so I never got around to figuring out how to use them.

    Is there someway to use multi-samples that way so that they are laid out chromatically in a sampler (preferably Kontakt), with relative ease and can then be played on a keyboard? If so how?
