For me Matt Tytel's Vital synth is maybe the n°1 contender for best freebie of 2021
(kinda like reaper, there is a free version with just a nag creen at start up, but you can also buy it in a version with more presets)

Right now I'm playing around with the instrument called "PART"
but their piano instruments are damn nice as well and they sound better
than any free piano I had before.
