As a non-native english speaker I don't sometimes get where the swearwords end and the message begins and vice versa

@TonyG and @Herr Durr: I really regeret you're leaving. The forum will lose some of the most interesting members.

On the other hand I don't understand what it's good for to leave just to make a point.
Just take it like the weather. Thanks to the ignore button we are not forced to read every mental weak person's posts.
And: you can't change AS to something (even) better if you don't participate and leave it to the trolls.

The maintainers of another forum recently removed all the rating functions although there was no consistent evidence of misuse (yet).
I've never cared much about which icon some people like to click - although I found it amusing when recently, a few ratings became more and more unrelated to the content.
I really enjoy the communication here and the fact that so many great people are participating won't be changed by a few sad and lonely ones.

Anyway, sry to go back on topic, but TonyG never explained:

How rating someone negatively possibly could disrupt the exchange of ideas, even? The only person I've seen to have their posts hidden (ever) was foster. Guess he might have cause for concern! But anyway, that's (AFAIK) the only real downside to negative ratings. And it's not much of one. The rating itself is just cosmetic and trivial, but I guess it has been useful to have a mirror held up sometimes; to get feedback about possible misinterpretations etcs.

It is a shame, for whatever reason imaginable, that this forum lost possibly the greatest human resource it has ever had. He knows the law like a cross between Perry Mason and Clarence Darrow, has incredible amounts of real world producing and audio recording chops, knows tons about hardware as he has his own perhaps $500,000 studio, has multiple industry awards including Grammys, and as well has a track record to go out of the way and help those that ask it. It's a damn shame, this.
