I don't get it, if you don't want to hear Katy Perry just change the radio station. I don't hear any top 10 artists unless I listen to mainstream radio. There have always been a select few artists that were considered "mainstream" since pioneer recording artists. Once a trend setting artist creates a hit more follow and a genre is formed. The variety of music today is actually more then it was in the peak of the record label era. Today you can record a broadcast quality album in your bedroom, and there are countless ways to market and promote. There are tons of people who go to extreme lengths to find obscure music that sounds good so there is always a demand. You just have to sound good and be willing to starve while working endlessly on refining your production skills and techniques.

 

Thats the spirit i like to see around here.

You know i`ve never read the book but i did see the movie(never plays on tv) on my computer some ten days ago.
It was the most disturbing, depressing movie i have ever seen.Pure work of art though.
It serves its purpose to remind us to what our society is transforming into.

This is so true, it's not actually funny. It doesn't sound good, I would rather hear a rough voice, than an Autotuned one. Imagine if Mick Jagger had used Autotune, or Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, Jimmi Hendrix, Ian Curtis, or Bon Scott (although he'd have probably blown it up).
Most of the stars in @Von_Steyr list's voices will be proccessed with Autotune.
As someone who's recently started to do vocals on their own tracks, I do tend to wonder off pitch a bit, but feel it adds something different to what I'm doing. But Autotune my voice, I'd rather cut my throat out with a spoon.
